Vehicle Detail

This auction is for a 2009 Hyundai Accent GLS 4-door sedan. It’s finished in Wine (aka dark red) with the Gray interior. This was a recovered theft vehicle, details of which are described further down in the description. The Accent is powered by Hyundai’s proven and reliable G4ED Alpha II 1.6L DOHC 16 valve CVVT engine known for it’s good power output, great economy and inherent smoothness. It features a cast iron engine block for maximum durability with an aluminum cylinder head for light weight and excellent heat dissipation that gives a 10.0:1 compression ratio to squeeze the most horsepower out of every drop of fuel. This powerplant has two overhead cams (DOHC) with Continuously Variable Valve Timing (CVVT) for maximum power output at all engine speeds, coil on plug (COP) ignition for reliability in all environmental conditions and multiport fuel injection for precise fuel delivery with maximum economy. For the 2009 model, Hyundai has made significant changes to this engine so that it gets a 2 mpg better EPA fuel economy rating in both city and highway driving than the 2008 and older models. Something to keep in mind if you’ve also been looking at older Accents. The engine is mated to a 4-speed automatic transmission. This front wheel drive transaxle setup has a low first gear that provides brisk acceleration when starting off, while the high top gear allows for effortless highway cruising and excellent fuel economy figures of over 40 mpg when driven with restraint. Rounding out the Accent GLS is a suspension made to smooth out your daily commute while still having fun on twisting roads. Start off with a light curb weight of just 2,400 pounds. Add a MacPherson strut independent front suspension, a front stabilizer bar, speed-sensitive rack and pinion power steering for precise road feel and a stiffer chassis design than many other small vehicles, and you have a car that is quicker, faster and handles better than most others in it’s class. While the Hyundai Accent is one of the lowest priced cars new, it still has all the latest active and passive safety features of more expensive cars. The Accent has a total of eight airbags including advanced dual stage front airbags with passenger sensor, front side airbags and front and rear head curtain airbags. Passive safety features include the LATCH system rear child seat anchors, front and rear energy absorbing crumple zones, 5-mph impact-absorbing bumpers, adjustable front shoulder seat belts with pretensioners and a Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) that lets you know when a tire is low before it becomes dangerous. A quick walk around the car reveals how the Hyundai Accent is one of the nicest small cars sold today. From up front, its smooth curved lines and a black honeycomb grille with chrome accents, raked windshield, clear lens halogen headlights and jewel effect reflectors flow into sweeping curves along the sides of the car with body colored door handles, side moldings and mirrors for a stylish monochromatic look. On the roof a low profile shorty antenna adds a Euro touch. Then, going back, the cars’ lines meld into a slightly recessed rear window and a short trunk lid surrounded by oversize L.E.D. effect taillights, while the rear bumper has a lower feature line to enhance the look. The exterior is beautiful to look at but interior design wasn’t left out. From the two-tone interior scheme with a rich graphic pattern upholstery, the clean layout of the instrument cluster, a center stack that puts radio and climate control functions just a finger tip away and a center console with convenient storage, everything looks and functions right. Not only is the styling attractive, but all the textures have a rich feel and look and all the switchgear have a precise soft touch action. From the feel of the steering wheel in your hand, the graining pattern on the dash and door panels, or the layout of the knobs and switches on the dash, everything looks and feels like it came from a more expensive car. This Accent GLS is well equipped with all the desirable standard safety, comfort and convenience features and optional equipment listed below: 1.6L DOHC 16 valve engine Automatic transmission Air conditioning with cabin air filter AM/FM CD with MP3 stereo Auxiliary input jack for external devices like iPods Roof mounted Euro-style shorty antenna Reclining front bucket seats with 6-way adjustment on drivers seat Fold-down drivers seat armrest Passenger seat-back storage pocket net Premium two-tone gray cloth interior with graphic pattern seating areas 60/40 split-folding rear seat backs Fold-down rear center armrest with dual cup holders Instrument cluster with 140 MPH speedometer, tachometer, two trip odometers and low fuel light Center console with cup holders, storage bins and 12V power outlet Front door panels with cup holder and storage pocket Rear door panels with cup holder and storage pocket Dual rear coat hooks Front and rear passenger grab bars Tinted glass Clear lens halogen headlights with jewel effect reflectors Intermittent windshield wipers Body color outside door handles Dual body color outside rear view mirrors Body color side moldings Body color bumpers Dual lighted visor vanity mirrors with sliding sunshade Overhead front console with dual map lights and sunglass storage case Front and rear dome lights with theater dimming Remote trunk and fuel door release Trunk light Rear window defroster Dual front airbags with advanced dual-stage and passenger sensing system Front seat side airbags Front and rear side curtain airbags Front seatbelt pre-tensioners Child seat anchors (LATCH) system Child safety locks on rear doors Emergency interior trunk release Tire Pressure Monitoring System (TPMS) And many more items too numerous to mention. GLS SPECIFIC BODY COLOR MOLDINGS, MIRRORS AND DOOR HANDLES: EURO-STYLE SHORTY ANTENNA: SIDE AIRBAGS: FRONT HEAD CURTAIN AIRBAGS: DUAL ILLUMINATED VISOR VANITY MIRRORS: REAR HEAD CURTAIN AIRBAGS: 60/40 SPLIT-FOLDING REAR SEAT BACKS: INTERIOR TRUNK SAFETY RELEASE: JACK AND ALL THE TOOLS: This car was a recovered theft vehicle. What that means is that the car was stolen at one time, then the owner of the car was paid off by the insurance company after a few days of unsuccessfully trying to find it by the police, and then it is subsequently recovered (sometimes weeks or months later). When the owner is paid by the insurance company, he hands over the title to them giving the insurance company all salvage rights to it. If the vehicle is later recovered, the insurance company takes the title to the DMV and gets a salvage certificate. With that salvage certificate the insurance company can now sell the car. The new owner must take the car to be inspected by a state agency to make sure the V.I.N. matches the paperwork, that the repairs, if any, were done properly and that the car is roadworthy. If it is, they sign off on the salvage certificate which is turned in to the DMV in exchange for regular title that allows the car be titled and registered in any state. In this case, the car has been inspected by the Maryland State Police and now has a clear title ready to be transferred to new owner who can title and register it in their own name. CLICK HERE to see the title. Be wary of sellers who sell a car with just a salvage certificate as it could cost you thousands to make the car roadworthy and be able to pass a salvage inspection, regardless of what the description says. I am fully disclosing the salvage history of this vehicle (although not all other sellers do), which is why the car is priced well below other similar cars. Eventually whenever YOU sell the car let your conscience be your guide as to disclosing that information. Don’t worry too much about the salvage history, remember, you are buying a car, not a piece of paper. It’s certainly not as significant on a four year old economy car as it would be on a one or two year old model luxury or sports car, and when it comes time for you to sell it, it will be even less significant on an 6, 8 or 10 year old vehicle. The car is in very nice condition inside and out. It has a beautiful dent-free body with just a few minor touched-up scratches, blemishes or parking lot door dings you would normally expect on a 4 year old car. The paint itself is beautiful and shiny and this Wine Red paint is a metallic finish which just about glows in the sunlight. In the shade it looks darker, like a Burgundy, but in the sun it has a radiance from the metallic component that lightens it up considerably. It has just been cleaned with Meguiar’s Smooth Surface Clay System, polished with Meguiar’s Mirror Glaze cleaner polish and topped off with Meguiar’s Ultimate Synthetic wax for a high gloss shine. The car appears to have at one time been in a fender bender to the rear because the bumper cover and quarter panels were replaced. The trunk lid is still original so the accident had to have been minor. The repair was well done so only a professional could tell it happened. All the glass, moldings, trim and emblems are excellent and the headlights are crystal clear. The car has the original V.I.N. stickers on all other body panels. Hood: Front bumper: Left fender: Right fender: Left front door: Right front door: Left rear door: Right rear door: Trunk: The interior is in nice condition as well. It has good seats, carpet, dashboard, door panels and headliner with just normal wear and some light dirt in the upholstery that’s more visible because it’s a light color. The car doesn‘t appear to have been smoked in. The trunk looks like it was hardly ever used and the engine compartment has been fully detailed and is clean enough to eat off of. Mechanically it runs and drives excellent. The engine runs strong and feels smooth both at idle, while accelerating and throughout the cruising range and the transmission shifts smoothly. The steering wheel is on dead center going down the road with no shakes or vibrations at speed, the brakes are firm with no pedal pulsations or pulling to one side when stopping and the suspension is tight. The A/C blows ice cold. All four tires have excellent tread and include two BFGoodrich Touring T/A tires and two Kumho Solus KH16 tires. The spare tire doesn’t look to have ever been used. The car has been fully checked out and serviced with nearly $1,500 worth of new or recent parts, maintenance and repairs with original Hyundai/Kia or other name brand parts so that only your enjoyment rather than your immediate attention will be required on delivery. Some of the items checked or serviced include: New Mobil 1 oil change New Hyundai oil filter New Hyundai air filter New NPN cabin air filter New throttle body cleaning New PCV valve cleaning New NGK platinum spark plugs New Hyundai/Kia SPIII transmission fluid flush and change (manually flushed with 12 quarts) New Hyundai/Kia transmission filter Recent front brake pads Recent front brake rotors Recent rear brake shoes Recent rear brake drums New parking brake adjustment New Valvoline Synthetic Dot 4 brake fluid flush and change New Hyundai carpeted and embroidered floor mats Recent four tires Photos of some of the parts replaced and service done: Oil change: Oil filter: Air filter: Cabin air filter: Throttle body cleaning: PCV valve cleaning: Spark plugs with the proper amount of anti-seize on the threads: Transmission fluid flush and change: Transmission filter: Transmission super clean internally: Front brake pads: Front brake rotor thickness; 22mm is new: Rear brake shoes: Rear brake drums: Parking brake adjustment: Brake fluid flush and change: Brake fluid so clean you can barely tell the level: The cost new of this 2009 Accent GLS was nearly $15,000 but with additional dealer markups (read rip-offs) plus tax and title the original owner of the car paid well over $16,000 for it. CLICK HERE to see the original pricing. The NADA Blue Book retail value for the car if it didn’t have the salvage history is over $10,000. CLICK HERE to see the Blue Book price. I have the Buy It Now Price at more than $3,000 below that. If you are serious about buying a clean, late model Hyundai Accent, this is about as low as they go because of the salvage history. Remember, you can get a great deal on Ebay with prices sometimes way below retail, but no bidder is going to “steal” a vehicle and no seller is going to give one away either. Also when comparing prices, remember the things that you won’t have to spend money on. With this car you won’t have to spend $300 on a new set of tires, you won’t have to spend $300 on a complete front brake service, you won’t have to spend $300 on a complete rear brake service, you won’t have to spend $300 on a brake fluid and transmission service, you won’t have to spend $300 on a tune-up and filters service, you won’t have to spend $300 on any upcoming scheduled maintenance, and you won’t have to spend $100 on a major detailing. With many of the other listings on Ebay, you’re lucky if they even check the oil before delivery. The car comes with two factory Hyundai keys and an emergency wallet key: All the books and manuals: And a brand new set of factory carpeted and embroidered floor mats: If you are looking for a nice low mileage Accent in great condition at a low price, then this car is hard to beat. Also remember that we don’t charge dealer processing fees or document fees that many other listings have for $200 or more and bury in their fine print. And don’t be fooled by some other auctions that are advertised as NO RESERVE and start at $100 or some other low price. Since no dealer is going to risk loosing thousands of dollars if their auction doesn’t bring enough money, you can be pretty sure he has some “people” bidding on it for him. Especially those auctions that are private listings where it says “User ID kept private.” Also, because my reserve is close to the Buy It Now price, don’t think that you will get a much better deal if you just keep bidding it up instead of using B.I.N., especially if you need it delivered. TERMS OF THE AUCTION ARE AS FOLLOWS: Since this car may be advertised locally, auction can be canceled at any time (unless auction ended early with BUY IT NOW) due to prior sale without liability to any bidder. A down payment of $500 (plus any additional delivery charge) is required within 3 days of the close of the auction, balance due in cash on delivery or certified funds on delivery if I deliver it or you pick it up, or before it’s dropped off at the transporter if a shipping company is transporting it, but no later than 7 days after the close of the auction without prior agreement. I accept bank or certified checks, money orders, credit cards through PayPal (accepted for down payment only). If paying balance with funds other than cash, buyer to fax copy of monetary instrument no less than 24 hours before picking up vehicle. The car is sold as is. Buyer is welcome to inspect car BEFORE the end of the auction or to have someone check it out on your behalf provided you authorize whoever is checking the car to provide me with a copy of the results. I have tried to accurately describe this car, both mechanically and cosmetically but you can expect a certain amount of minor flaws on ANY used car including squeaks, rattles, drips, nicks, chips, scratches, blemishes and any other marks that are consistent with the age and mileage of the vehicle. There is no possible way to include all minute details and imperfections, however, I believe my listing accurately depicts this vehicle and if there are any issues they are noted in the description. Also remember that a vehicle is made up of thousands of mechanical parts and components and in an older or higher mileage used vehicle a part that is working fine now may go bad the next day, in a week, or a month from now. It’s nearly impossible to tell when a particular part or component will fail as most don’t exhibit prior symptoms, however, proper preventative maintenance as this car has received, can prevent most problems or breakdowns from happening. In fairness to all bidders the reserve price will not be disclosed so please don’t even ask. Buyer responsible for transportation and car must be paid for in full before it can be released. May deliver. Email or call for delivery quote or for any other questions. atikovi@email.com Maryland and District of Columbia dealer. Phone 202-246-5201. Please do not bid if you don’t intend to buy. FREE DELIVERY TERMS: Free delivery within 500 miles of the Washington DC area if bidder purchases vehicle with Buy It Now. (35 cents per mile for additional miles as shown in MapQuest.com from zip code 20001 to your address.) That is still the same rate as when I started on Ebay 13 years ago even with more than double the gas prices. Remember, the Buy It Now option disappears once the reserve price is met. The Buy It Now price is $6,995. AUCTION ENDS: 10:00pm sharp, EASTERN TIME Monday April 22nd unless Buy It Now is used.
