This is an awesome 1964 model Ford Falcon Futura Convertible! It features a 200 CID 6 cylinder engine with automatic transmission. This engine is unique compared to the standard 170 CID 6 cylinder that was used in these cars. From about 1962-1964 ½, Ford used the 170 CID, but it was discontinued in the summer of 1964. The 200 CID was introduced in 1965 and used until ’78. At first glance, these engines do not look different. But there is truly a difference! To start, the 170 engine block and crankshaft has FOUR main bearing journals, while the 200 engine block and crankshaft has SEVEN main bearing journals. They are NOT interchangeable. You will also notice that the 170 has THREE soft freeze plugs on the right hand side (passenger) of the block, while the 200 engine has FIVE soft freeze plugs. Lastly, the 200 engine’s timing cover includes a bolt hole for mounting the alternator bracket, while the 170 does not. This Falcon is finished with beautiful Tropical Turquoise paint over well-kept, medium-blue interior with a white convertible top. The beautifully restored condition of this falcon features a convertible top, original AM radio, original metal body, original glass, bucket seats with center console, bright, shiny trim and chrome, correct wheel covers, clean and nicely detailed engine compartment and trunk, solid unmolested undercarriage, spare tire/jack and much more. The great cosmetic and mechanical condition of this car is a testament to the care and maintenance this car has received over time.
