Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a nice 1972 Chevelle SS Clone with a 350 v8 and a 4 speed transmission. I got this car locally, it has a clear Arkansas title. The car starts great and drives perfect down the highway, nice and tight. Brand new Holley 600 carb. Brakes are OK, but I would have them bled to tighten things up. There is a small oil leak and I think its at the timing chain cover. The Chevelle has a brand new set of staggered 17 inch tires and wheels with about 50 miles on them. The body is in very nice shape, it's an older restoration, the body lines are super straight and the paint is in amazing condition. There are a couple of small bubbles on the lower sections, they are hard to see and I could not get good pictures. The hood has a couple of small dents where maybe someone shut the hood with something underneath it. On a scale of 1-10, the overall body appearance in my opinion is about a 9. The trunk is nice and solid as well as frame rails. I did find a couple of spots on the floors where there was some rust, I could see where someone in the past might have sprayed some undercoating to cover up a few issues. I could see a couple of sheet metal screws from the underside (see pics), so my guess is they laid some metal down and screwed it in for added support. The brighter metal bolts are the temporary bolts I used for the bucket seats, screwed into the factory seat mount holes. The majority of the floorboards look really solid but the other areas will need attention at some point. The interior is pretty good, headliner could use a tightening up and the carpet is not bad, but is faded a bit. This car had a bench seat, I removed the bench seat and installed a set of bucket seats. The seats were previously dyed black and are now showing a bit of the old color. You could either re-dye the seats or recover them. In order to put in the buckets I had to get a really nice set of bucket seat tracks and mounting brackets. The seats are only set in place now using 2 bolts per seat, the brackets need to be welded in place before final installation can be done. If the car does not sell soon, I will complete the final seat installation. Speedometer works, lights and turn signals work, fuel gauge works now and then. The dash has a crack, and the blower is not working. So, like any old car that is driven, it has some things that need to be fixed. From a curb appeal and driving standpoint its a really nice car. Enjoy it while you work on it. Make sure you ask any questions before bidding! ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________ ___________________________________________________________________________________________________________
