Vehicle Detail
acaceca Store Further cleanout of surplus vintage cars and parts: Found another one in my barn. This is a no reserve auction. This particular auction is for an authentic original 1976 Triumph TR6 roadster as shown. This is an unrestored, unmolested original survivor. I purchased it from the original owner, a doctor, in Atlanta Georgia in 1987. Original paint. Never repainted or accident damaged. Factory Pimento red color with black Ambla interior. Comes with the British Motor Industry Heritage Trust Certificate certifying it as a matching numbers original car. The serial number is CF/50718-U0. Built 7 October, 1975, sent to British Leyland Motors in Jacksonville Florida on 19 November, 1975. Original equipment includes overdrive transmission, air conditioning and luggage rack. The odometer reads about 25,000 miles. I have no reason to believe it is incorrect but cannot guarantee it's accuracy. It had the same mileage when I purchased it in 1987. There are 51 photos. Following is a detailed description. ENGINE: The engine is in top running condition with about 125 psi taken on all cylinders. Standard main and standard rod bearings were just replaced as a precaution only - this was not necessary as all original bearings were in perfect condition. Starts and runs perfectly with no smoke or noise. Hagertys classic car values list the values for the 1976 Triumph TR6 at $9800 low and $32000 high. This survivor condition car has an average value of $19,800 without overdrive or air conditioning. TRANSMISSION: Transmission and overdrive work perfectly. Transmission was just overhauled as a precaution only. It needed nothing, as everything was in excellent condition. Transmission and overdrive were cleaned internally and all syncronizers, countershaft and countershaft bearings were replaced while transmission was apart only because it is easy to do while apart.(also was not needed). ENGINE COMPARTMENT: OriginaL paint. No rust - battery box is solid, just minor surface rust. Complete and all original, nothing modified. No damage, no evidence of any accidents. Straight. Entire engine compartment including engine could use a good cleaning and detailing. TRUNK COMPARTMENT: Original paint. No rust, no accidents. Excellent overall condition. Includes original spare wheel and redline Michelin X tire. Spare wheel needs repainting. Cardboard trunk liner panels are decent but should be replaced to look new. Original trunk carpeting is only fair condition. There is a non original scissors jack and handle in the trunk. EXTERIOR SHEET METAL BODY PANELS: All original paint. Fenders, doors, hood, trunk lid, rocker panels all straight - No rust, no accidents, no large dents or dings, straight and undamaged, unmodified. Excellent condition throughout. Paint is thin in some areas, mostly on the edges where it has worn thin from waxing and on the top of the drivers door where it is worn from drivers arm hanging out over the window. Most of these areas have been brush touched up that does not show in photos. Could use a good rubbing out to bring back a better shine. EXTERIOR BODY PARTS: Chrome is all good, grille is excellent, top frame is excellent, luggage rack is stainless steel and excellent, front and rear lights are all very good. Convertible top is excellent but has 2 small slits near the front where it was folded incorrectly. Hardly visible and can be used as is for a long time. CHASSIS: Frame and complete chassis under the car is excellent with no rust - only minor surface dusting in spots. Most of the factory paint is still there. No damage. Straight, just dirty. Everything is original and complete. All suspension, brakes and everything under the car are original and complete - no hidden damage. Anything seen in photos that looks like tan/brown rust is the factory primer, not rust. INTERIOR: Interior is all unmodified original with a few small exceptions noted here. The floors are extremely solid originals. All gauges are original and functional. All soft dash pieces are original and excellent. The top dash pad has been replaced. Original wood dash panel had the typical varnish age cracking and has been replaced with a new virgin solid Walnut dash. New Moss Motors carpeting has been installed with a thick underlayer insulation mat - the floor carpet pieces were not fastened down with glue so that the floors can be easily inspected. Door panels are original and in good condition. Right side is only slightly bulging. Seats are both very good as is but will need refoaming sometime in the future. One seat has a slightly different vinyl pattern than the other (correct material but from a different year model)- hardly noticeable - it was replaced at some time with original material due to a large rip. TIRES: The original five (5) redline Michelin X tires all hold air long term but are age checked and should be replaced - by now they would also be in a semi petrified state. EXHAUST: The exhaust was put on new when stored and is still in excellent condition throughout - some of it's paint has peeled off and some surface rust has taken it's place. PAPERWORK: I have the original Georgia title and registration from the person I purchased the car from. This title and registration will be given to the new owner, along with a bill of sale. The British Heritage Industry Heritage Trust Certificate goes with the car. There is also an owners manual. AIR CONDITIONING: Air conditioning is fully operational at this writing. I am not aware of any leaks in the system but will not guarantee it to blow cold air when the car is collected due to the age of the hoses, etc. It was charged with Freon about a week ago and still blows cold air as of 2 days ago. MISCELLANEOUS: Not so miscellaneous. After such long term storage many things were done to resurrect the car and make sure it was in top running condition for the next owner. Also much work was done that turned out to be not necessary but was done because I could not remember accurately the overall condition of some things. The following is a list of things that were recently done to the car - whether it needed doing or not: (Also some other items not listed have been done but forgotten): 4 new transmission syncronizers. front and rear transmission oil seals. 3 quarts transmission oil. 1 new clutch cross shaft pin. New transmission countershaft. New transmission countershaft bearings. Transmission gasket set. Transmission rubber mounts. Shift grommet. New rubber seat diaphrams. New sun visors. New walnut wood dash. New padded top dash assembly. New carpeting & padding. New NOS Fuzzy door seals. New water hose set & clamps. Fresh Anti freeze. New Battery. New rubber brake hoses. New brake shoes and pads. New caliper rebuild kits. New wheel cylinders. New brake master cylinder. Silicone brake fluid. New clutch master cylinder. New clutch slave cylinder. New clutch hose. New clutch pressure plate, disc, throwout bearing. New fan belts. New headlight switch. Main engine bearings -Standard size. Rod engine bearings - Standard size. 5 quarts oil & oil filter. New oil pan gasket. New side window wiper rubbers. New carb rebuilding kits. INSPECTION OF CAR: As always, it is difficult to describe something as complicated as a vehicle and it is highly recommended that you personally inspect the car or have a 3rd party inspect it for you. I can accomodate anyone to show them the car. It is described to the best of my ability along with many good photos but it is the bidders ultimate responsibility to ensure that what he thinks he is getting is indeed one in the same and something he will be happy with. I have purchased and sold roughly 25 autos through ebay over the past 15 years and also many more over the telephone and have always had excellent results and complete satisfaction from the buyers but I do my homework and suggest you do the same. I describe things as honestly as humanly possible. SHIPPING: I have shipped many cars over the years to all parts of the world for many years and can assist the buyer with transport or completely arrange transport. I can assist with loading. The car is in a secure covered place at my home. PAYMENT: A $1000 deposit via Paypal is required immediately after the auction closes. The balance is due within 3 days via priority mail with a bank cashiers check or more than one check if the balance happens to be $10000 or more, cash or wire transfer. Payment is to be made in advance of collecting the car. No Paypal.
