Vehicle Detail
Introduced in Europe in 1998 as the 600 Hornet, the Honda 599 is actually made in Italy, along with scooters and other motorcycle models. It's been a big seller in Europe, a success belied by the simple nature of the bike's design. They never sold well here in the US because of the hefty price tag. Honda sold these in the US in model year 2004 and 2006 with limited numbers. They still sell them in Europe under the Hornet name. This bike will be a collector’s item. I love reading 'Motorcycle Classics Magazine'. They showcase low mileage motorcycle's from the past. This bike here with just 657 miles could be a feature bike in years to come. I have installed the Givi A305 wind screen. I think it gives the bike a cool cafe look. I actually have two, one installed and one in a box. I also put on a set of T-Rex frame sliders. I think they look cool. I still have the original bolts if you want to take these off. I bought this bike from my Honda Dealer new in 2008. I licensed it one year, but never rode it much. I am in my 40's and would take it on back roads on a nice Sunday afternoon but it has never been on the interstate. I have always babied this bike and have no idea how fast it will go. It has never been over 6,000 RPM but once and that was by accident. I just enjoyed the serenity of riding. The bike has never been washed. It has never been dirty, never wrecked. It has always been kept in my garage under a motorcycle cover. It does have two small scratches from my garage on the seat cowl that I touched up, see photo. I thought of buying a new seat cowl but you can hardly see it I have changed the oil twice. Once at 100 miles, and the other at 500 Miles. I use the Honda GN4 Motor Oil 10W40 and Honda Oil filter. My service manager at Honda told me not to use synthetic oil until the rings have set well in the engine, like at over 1,000 miles or more. I have a Deltran Battery Tender Jr that is connected to it when it is in the garage. I always winterized the bike by filling the gas tank up and using Sta-Bil. This is a beautiful bike. My girlfriend is an ER Doctor and is not a fan of me riding so I told her I would sell it. I do hope it goes to a good owner who will appreciate it. I have a 2004 Shop Manuel, could not find the 2006 one, and the owners manual. Please let me know if you have any questions or need more pictures. Thanks Summary: This 600-class minimalist sportbike has long been an enthusiast favorite, and now it's better than ever. New inverted front suspension, topped off with an attractive meter and cowl package. Same easy-to-use, free-revving power. Rock-solid chassis. Great riding position. It's everything you want in a sportbike and not an ounce more.
