Vehicle Detail
For sale is my 1987 Ford Crown Victoria with less than 49k original miles. I purchased this vehicle from my father, about a year ago, when he decided to quit driving. He owned the vehicle since 1988. My father always changed the oil like clockwork! As he did not drive it much, he never hit the 3,000 miles between oil changes so he changed the oil every 3 months. Any time the car had anything mechanical wrong with it, he would fix it. If it developed a slight miss it would be in the shop. He tuned it up every 2-3 years whether it was needed or not. He believed cars needed a tune-up every 2 years or so. My father drove the car like an old man and I do the same. I do not drive the car anywhere without starting it up and letting it run for at least 5-10 minutes. That's the way my dad did it, so that's the way I do it. Current condition is as follows... This vehicle runs excellet. It starts right up, every time. It runs quiet and runs strong. In the last year I have owned it I have replace all the belts, converted the A/C to R-134 freon (which has since developed an o-ring leak at the condenser), changed the oil 3 times and the transmission filter, gasket & fluid once,as well as flushed the coolant. I replaced the antenna assembly when I replaced the radio. The radiator was replaced back in Oct, 2011 so it's pretty new, the tires still have plenty of tread on them, but are starting to show slight signs of cracking on the sidewalls. My father had the vehicle repainted by Maaco about 3 years ago. It's not the best paint job, but the car looks decent. The interior is in overall good condition. There are a couple burns in the driver seat from my dad's smoking over the years, but other than that it's good. These are the things that are negative with the car... It will need front brake pads soon, as the "Bird Chirpers" are starting to "chirp". The vehicle is rusted underneath as well as the bottom insides of the doors. The front bumper has surface rust all over. The rear bumper is mostly clean, but has a dent in the left side. My father does not have a garage so this vehicle has been street kept since he owned it. There is a slight vacuum leak from behind the steering column. This vehicle was equiped with a vacuum operated E-brake release. The pull cable handle is broken and I've never used the parking brake. I was gonna find out which vacuum line comes into the car and then disconnect & plug it, but I haven't had the time. There is a broken piece missing from the right top dask speaker grille and the speaker buzzes at times. I am selling this car because I do not have the room in my driveway anymore. I have 5 cars in a 4-car driveway and I need the room, and the plates expeired at the end of last month. I have driven this car every day since I puchased it from my father. It starts right up every day and has never given me problems. The only things I changed on the vehicle areas follows... The radio has been changed to an Sony AM/FM CD w/Aux & USB inputs. I stll have the original AM/FM radio in the trunk. I also installed a Remote Start system because I hate sitting in a cold car in the winter while it warms up. This vehicle would be a good daily driver for someone who likes the older cars that ride smooth on the road. In the right hands, with a little TLC, someone could get many more years of use out of it. If you are a car person just looking for a good low mile motor to put in a vehicle with a better body, this would be good for you as well. I have described the vehicle as best as I could, from what I know about it having been in the family a long time. If you read my feedback you will see that all my items are just as I've described. I have included as many pics as I could showing the vehicle and it's condition. If you have any questions, please feel free to message me and I will get back to you as sonn as possible. I have a clean title in hand. This vehicle is being sold "AS IS" with "NO WARRANTIES" given or implied. This vehicle will have to be picked up locally, as I will not ship it anywhere. Buyer is welcome to make his/her own arrangements after final payment has been made. NADA "fair" value is just over $1,500.00. The reserve is set below that so good luck and happy bidding!
