1979 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow II - 6.75 Liter Matt Garrett - Dallas Texas - 214-878-3823 GM-Classics Car Collection 1979 Rolls Silver Shadow II 1979 Rolls Royce Silver Shadow II. Simply a stunning and impressive looking car from every angle. A car that has cameras clicking whenever it’s displayed. Two owner, garaged day and night, in Texas since new. Desirable black/red with a cosmetic finish that is VERY impressive in any venue. In fact the car has a $15K bare metal refinish by the rolls dealer in 1990. Just think of what that would equate to today and the quality was a bit beyond OEM too. The finish today on the car is near show level with very minor patina. It is there and will make most anyone into the picky level of these cars pretty darn happy. The red two tone interior is VERY nice for an old Rolls. In fact, probably the best I have seen being honest with no re-dye. Some of the wood has hairline cracks in the finish, and that is typical off all these cars. But it is original, and its is very nice as it is and not a spider web mess like a lot. Now the bad; This car is a crazy mile car. Insane miles, simply used up in collector terms. Early in its life it made highway trips from Dallas to Houston on lots of occasions. It has 119K miles. When the second owner bought it from the very wealthy Dallas family, the car became a show car/collector. Today this car could easily be “frauded” by the dishonest to have less miles as it shows nothing of its use, but it is an honest high mile car that was used very early on then put away. This car has not suffered the elements, UV or winter damage that most old Shadows have. It has led a charmed life, yet it has been driven. Now when I say it was put away, the car has now sat in a small collection since the 90s. Unfortunately that collector was ill to the point he could not address his cars, but his facility did the job of preservation. The first time it has ran since is when I started it about 4 months ago. The plates and inspection are dated 99, so you can consider that was the last time it was used on the road. Right now, the car runs good, and simply everything is working well including the climate control and all its functions. On the short around the area, it runs well other than the fact the tires are 90 vintage and should be a consideration to those that want to pile miles on! Now as with pretty much every RR, the hydraulic and brake system is WEAK. It functions after running a little while and does not leak, but I can assure you its not to spec and do not recommend driving this car until it is fully addressed… Brake stopping power is limited. I can fix it, but I wont. As a whole, this car is original and its nice BUT this car does not fit the 25+ year old cars with the window stickers still on them that comprises my 50+ car GM-Classics collection. This car is not good enough to be brand new, it never will be… Only one with less than 1000 miles, museum stored and the window sticker on it can be that… It would be a $100K car if it were, but this car is certainly way better than I am making it out here but does not fit my collection. One of the most positive aspects of this car, for an old Rolls… It leaks nothing! That is amazing to me as every Rolls including a late model Arnage has dripped something on me. This one does not. The other is the climate control all works along with all the power windows, seats and accessories! It starts right up every time without a hitch. Then the top aspect is this car’s cosmetics. It will have everyone wondering why I am not building it up more than I am, and why way lesser looking cars are asking 40K…. But this IS just another old Rolls when it all comes down to it and will have the same issues they all do or will. My past dealings with Old Rolls buyers has lead me into situations with people that do not really understand old cars… That is something I am doing my BEST to set straight here, talk the non car guys out of this, yet am seeking out the proper home. Therefore this car is for sale at no reserve price you set with a VERY LOW starting bid. It is sure to be a certain sale. I am ready to let it go to the right buyer. Open title in hand, ready to go tomorrow. Having 50+ cars, many that are #1 level show cars and the rest 25+ years old brand new with the window stickers on them leaves me little time or desire to love this car the way it should. It deserves someone that is not spread so thin with a little time to invest. This very appealing, and incredibly good looking Shadow II is TO BE SOLD AS IS, AS DISCRIBED…. Not a perfect car, but still an incredible car needing some standard RR maintenance from its years of storage. As I said, it starts, runs, drives and does everything one of these cars should do right other than the hydraulic system. That system is weak from the many years of sitting, but that sitting is why this car has been preserved. This car’s proper buyer should be someone that does NOT talk in terms of “my mechanic says”. If that is you, you would be better off with anything but an old RR, so hit the back button now. Either you are a hands on Rolls guy or you are not. If you are, this car is the easiest and best project a hand on guy could ever ask for and will end up being one of the finest example shadows in any stable with some properly directed maintenance. Cosmetically, take it to a show right now! Its there. If you think you can buy this car, fly in and drive it across country without addressing some of the maintenance needed…. You are barking up the wrong tree on this one. It needs to be shipped, but it of course will run and drive when you get it. Now if you think you have what it takes to buy this car, spend 2000-4000 over a few months of weekend tinkering… You got a Shadow II to die for in the best colors ever and in a condition that will surprise you beyond my description. You may have one now.... Yours may be better...... but then again you have not seen this one side by side! I am promising less, but in the same breath this car will pack a bang for the buck like few shadows seen in years. This car came from money, and stayed with money all its life. No neglect and very much stored well. Its a Texas car and I can say that the undercairrage is better than the last 8000 mile Rolls I had from Chicago. The exhaust syetem is still original on this car.... Its not perfect, but its still origianl if that tells you anything. Most of the shadows for sale will have the same needs this one does but not disclosed. This car is full disclosure. You need to work on it! Make NO mistake about it! But when you do, you are going to love the end results without having to restore this car.
