1949 PLYMOUTH DELUXEFresh out of dry storage - mostly original, unmolested, solid survivor. Widowed previous owner decided to finally part with what they started to restore 8 years ago. They removed door panels, carpet and head liner (misplaced them years ago). They bought 4 brand new tires mounted and balanced 4/8/2008. She told me it ran 8 years ago by putting gas in the carburetor. I haven't tried to start it or test any of the mechanical or electrical items. It is mostly complete - ready for complete restoration or any degree thereof.It does not have a jack, battery, muffler, tailpipe, door panels, carpet or headliner. All the window glass is excellent except for slight clouding on the edge of drivers wing window. Has mostly original paint with black primer over thinner areas. A few small dents and very little rust on the floor boards. There is small rust through between the trunk lid bottom and the gravel pan on the lower left side. Other than that there is no rust on the exterior of this solid car.Trunk floor is extremely nice including the tire well. 1949 Plymouth had the very popular (maybe most popular of all years) bumpers. They are extremely straight and have a very good driver quality chrome finish. These style bumpers demand a high price and are hard to come by. Slight pitting on some of the remaining chrome. The front grille is stainless steel in excellent condition and looks fantastic. Again, maybe the nicest looking grille of the early Plymouths. It still has the original bull's eye seal beam head lights and it has the ever popular sunvisor.Keep in mind this will need full attention to all mechanical, electrical, fluids and interior. It has not run in years but will make a nice project for someone. The car rolls and steers nicely. It shows 88,229 miles on the odometer and the condition of the car would provide some evidence that it is probably accurate. Everything seems complete under the hood except the battery is missing.Come see it if you can, ask any questions before bidding. Low reserve and I expect it to sell, so bid accordingly.
