Vehicle Detail
roveractive Store Let's describe what we've got here. This is a 1992 Land Rover Range Rover Classic. It is a standard wheelbase model. At some point in its life cycle its owner painted it yellow. It's pretty stunning from a distance. I acquired it this past May (2012) and have put zero miles on it since adding it to the family. I had intended to use it in the winter as my bad weather vehicle but due to the work it may need to make it suitable for my uses I am reselling it instead. To be honest, after receiving the Rover here it's been up and down my driveway and around the cul de sac a few times to engage the transmission and that's it. The electric driver seat isn't working and the last person to use that feature before it ceased working was obviously much taller than I am, so taking it on the road wasn't safe in the seat's current location. That's one problem. It may have others, but never having gotten it assessed by a capable Rover mechanic I'm not sure what other issues it may have. Here's what I do know. The truck looks rough. The front seats are not in great shape. Seat covers are probably advisable. When I was in it the headlights, foglamps, sunroof, windows, and other electric features did work fine with the exception of the electric seats. The radio was removed by a previous owner and there is a lot of exposed wiring under the driver seat, center console, and the center cubby. I don't have the skills or knowledge to contend with any of these issues so I am going to move it along to a more capable and interested owner. It'll be a good Rover to tinker with. Mechanically it seems sound so that's great. Cosmetically it has a handful of hot spots. The left rear quarter panel has a dent that the last owner tried to conceal by adding a jerry can and its bracket. I didn't realize this until I had it in my possession. The driver side had been keyed at some point. There is discoloration in a few different spots including the rear tailgate. The passenger front door is hard to open from outside because the handle is broken and only a small part is still connected to the handle assembly. I've noticed some pooling of water in the driver footwell when it rains. The ignition is also quite finicky and does not always turn without some negotiating. Also, due to this and a great expanse of time in between vehicle starts the battery is toast and the vehicle hasn't run since the summer. This truck will have to be picked up by a rollback or flatbed upon purchase. If we're able to turn the ignition and get it running I doubt that driving it will be advisable. The pros are definitely the mechanical aspects and the truck is unbelievably well equipped from an accessory standpoint. It has a safari rack, front and rear steel brush bars, driving lamps aplenty (though not connected), new OEM rubber floor mats, and brand new beefy tires that must have been at least $200 each. Naturally, this is sold as is. If you're looking for one to part out this may be a candidate, though I think it's not that far from being useful as a fun offroad and bad weather toy for the right owner with the proper skill set.
