Vehicle Detail
1/1971 Honda CB750 K1. Frame- CB7501075243, engine- CB750E- 1075770. Mostly original. Runs strong, engine is oil tight, great sounding HM300 growl. Cosmetically challenged from dormancy; excellent platform for full resto. Fresh tune up, carb clean (and I mean fully disassembled, cleaned, new o-rings and float gaskets, and bench synced- not I that I shot a little spray in them), new rear brakes, fresh engine oil, filter, fork oil and battery. I have not ridden any real distance, just enough to make sure it goes and shifts, as the tires are more suited to a hobo fire than keeping me upright, the chain is questionable and the fork seals are leaking aforementioned fresh fork oil. The bike was purchased by a friend in 2007 from an estate sale of original and restored vintage motorcycles. He rode it for a while and, I surmise, life and family happened so it took the back burner. I purchased it from him to make run well enough to provide someone else with a strong platform for restoration, as I don't have time or room for a several-month-to-couple-of-years project. Here's the run-down: -Single cut front fender has a slight bend ahead of the front stay. There's an area pitted rust behind that.-No breaks in the top triple clamp (!). You know what I mean if you're into 750's...-Headlight bucket and fork ears appear to be from a K2 (chrome and black).-Speedo plate broken on the left side. See photo.-Left mirror will be included with sale, but is missing glass. These are the early style with lock nut on back.-Key switch has original round connector and matches fork lock. Wiring has not been hacked up. The original fuse holder is still there!-Handlebar controls are original (red single pointer kill switch). Bars are in great shape.-Asahi Denso fuel gauge in place of original fuel cap. Which'd be pretty cool if the clear plastic on top wasn't broken...-Transmission cover has been chromed (?). I'm going to guess the clutch and/ or springs have been replaced, as the clutch cover is held on with allen head screws, but that's just a guess...-Stock coils have been replaced with Accel super coils.-Seat's been recovered. Looks OK, no tears. Grab strap is gone.-Oil tank side cover: pretty far gone, as depicted. The red Honda wing below "750Four" is missing from the chrome part.-Shocks are original DeCarbon. One's clean, one's rusty.-Pipes, except for the massive dent in #4 near the baffle, are pretty nice. #1 is starting to rust through in the normal spot. Heat shields are nice.-Both rear turn stems are bent. Rear fender in dented below taillight bracket, but the bracket sits straight. That grab bar that's ALWAYS missing from these bikes- It's there.-Swing arm doesn't exhibit any play.-Middle cylinder cooling fin bent on right side.-The rust spot on the left of the tank along the trim strip: it's weeping fuel. It's not like pouring gas into a colander, but you might not wanna fire up a Camel in close proximity... That's about it. Everything works properly. There's plenty of surface rust on the frame, but nothing structural. With a little time and effort this'd make a great daily rider. And everything is there ('cept the coils and fork ears) if you want to take it to full resto. 0 false 18 pt 18 pt 0 0 false false false Terms stuff: $500 (five hundred U.S. dollars) due via Paypal 48 hours after auction close.
