Vehicle Detail

I bought this 1982 Fuel-injected FIAT 124 Pininfarina Spider 2000 in June of 2004 almost 9 years ago from a private seller. It had about 62k miles (99k km) on it when I bought it and it now has about 86k miles (137,747 km ~ the speedometer is in Kilometers) and it's only been driven during the summer and in clear, dry weather. When we're not driving it, it's stored inside of our garage with our 1991 MR2 (our Mercedes and Chevy Avalanche stay outside in the rain and snow!). It's the second Fiat Spider that I have owned in addition to one I had when in college. It's in great shape for a 30 year old vehicle and I always get compliments on the car and love to share other "Fiat stories" when I'm driving around town and I'll be sad to see it go after 9 years but we have 4 vehicles between my husband and I and we need to make some room in our garage! The car is completely rust free and has been maintained regularly. The top and boot are in great shape and the rear window is clear (I keep a towel on the window when it's folded up, which is about all the time). Some of the things that I've had done to the car while I've owned it are: Front Calipers, pads, rotors and hoses, timing belt, tensioner, fuel line and filter, starter, rear axle/differential, master cylinder, radiator, hoses, air filter, plugs, air flow meter, Yokohamas, front gas shocks, fuel tank sender, LR Brake caliper, rear pads, refinished rims, tie rods, swaybar and bushings, new badges, new top handle, new ANSA exhaust and muffler and more. I put over $5000 into this car after I bought it to be sure it was good to go, safe and in order for it to remain relatively maintainece free besides normal oil and fluid changes. The front drivers seat has a 2-3 inch "crack", not a tear, that was there when I got the car 9 years ago as well as a split in the dash that was also there (I have the original printout of the sale from Ebay when I bought it 9 years ago). The clock keeps great time but the plastic covering it is getting cloudy. The fuel gauge does NOT work but it gets a really consistent 25 mpg and we just reset the odometer at every fillup. Again, other than a few things here and there, the car is beautiful, a definite "head-turner" and we'll be sad to see it go. You have a chance to own a classic from an enthsiast ~ good luck on your bid and I hope this car finds a great home! On Feb-28-13 at 13:49:42 PST, seller added the following information: I didn't think to mention that I have an original "Ricambi Fiat Originali" Shop Manual to go along with the car that's extremely helpful with the maintenance of the car and to help troubleshoot any issues that might come up now and then. I'm trying to post a picture of it but ebay is having technical issues and customer support says it could be 24 hours or more before they can get their technical issue cleared up to allow me to post more pictures of some additional accessories that I have in my garage. Sorry but I'll keep trying. On Mar-04-13 at 15:16:12 PST, seller added the following information: Since we have heard from so many of you with questions (and stories!), we pulled the Fiat out of the garage and took her downtown for a wash and vacuum 28 degrees outside - She drove great and looks perfect ~ better than the original pictures show I think. . . I am including a link to the photos that we took today- ebay is having technical difficulties and we cant upload any more photos. These new pictures should answer most of the questions that you all have asked. The link is http://www.flickr.com/photos/93769886@N02/sets/72157632914195855/ A few notes: There are a few small paint bubbles where rust is starting to appear on one of the wheel wells. We forgot to mention that all 4 wheels were sent out for a complete restore in 2007-they look fabulousOn the drivers seat there are three seams that are "open". I use a sheepskin cover and have not taken it off since the summer. pictures show what the seat looks like. There is also a new tear on the back of the passenger seat - feel like it's from wear from the inside. Please don't hesitate to continue asking questions and we enjoy the stories, too and we hope the winner loves the car as much as we do ~ happy bidding!!!
