Vehicle Detail
Hi! Please let me know if you have any questions or want to take it for a test ride. My phone number is 267-879-4898This Toyota Prius is for you if: - You drive often! This is the most important thing by far. You're buying a car that has an expensive battery that needs to be charged regularly. It will last as long as it's being used, but you can't let it sit around.. especially in the winter. This car is happiest when you are driving it 5-7 days/week. - Your commute is at least 5 miles. I say this because it takes time for the car to warm up. It will exclusively use the gas powered engine to warm up, so you don't actually start getting awesome hybrid mileage until a few minutes into your drive. - You are willing to drive differently than you have been driving. If you want to get good mileage, you have to pay way more attention to that gas pedal. I was used to accelerating a fair amount between stop signs. The Prius doesn't like that! You have to really slow your roll and take your time to get good mileage. I can give you some tips when you show up for a test ride. Cool things about this car: - The obvious thing: you will definitely save on gas. I get anywhere between 35mpg (3 people plus all of our hockey gear) and 45mpg (a 2 hour drive by myself that was mostly highway driving). Regular city driving tends to be more like 40mpg for me. - The battery was recently rebuilt by Mark at Prius Rebuilders. I watched him do the whole thing, and it was super cool. It took about 4 hours, and each individual cell was tested and balanced. - I just bought brand new Michelin windshield wipers. They rule. - It has PA inspection through November 2013. - Under 90,000 miles! If you look at reviews of these cars, you'll see that they regularly get 150,000 - 200,000 miles! So, that's a lot of life left. - This car is a breeze to parallel park. I can fit in spots that I never would have dreamed of fitting in in my Chevy Cavalier! - Maybe it's just me, but I love that it's a sedan and not a hatchback. It doesn't scream "Hey, I'm a Prius!" - Power door locks, power windows, tilt steering, rear defrost, keyless entry, and air conditioningNot so cool things about the car: - There is a leak in the exhaust pipe. If you know someone that does patch work, it's possible that this could get fixed on the cheap. If you go directly to Toyota, it's not cheap, so don't do that. However, the parts are available through junkyards, and if you have a mechanic or know how to do the work yourself, it's possible to fix it for somewhere in the $800 range. I've been driving with the windows cracked, and it hasn't been an issue. You don't HAVE to get it fixed, but it won't pass inspection in the fall if you don't... - Minor cosmetic flaws. This car used to be owned by the Department of Transportation, so the paint was touched up where their logos used to be. The paint job isn't the prettiest, but the color does match, so it doesn't bother me much. It's on the driver's door, passenger's door, and trunk. There are also some scratches on the rear driver's side. I included a picture of that so you can see. Again, doesn't bother me, but just want you to know what you're getting. I live and work in Philadelphia, and I'm available most days for you to come test drive the car. It is for sale locally as well, and I will take down the auction if it sells. This car is being sold AS IS. Please feel free to ask any questions. Email or call 267-879-4898.
