Vehicle Detail

I love this car, but it has been my second car for 12 years and I really need to start seriously thinking about replacing my primary car (which is 10 years old with 200K on it) so I need to start creating some cash. It has served as my very reliable "winter car" for several years - it still runs but is in very rough shape. I have kept it because it has awesome four wheel drive and I work very early each morning. In this listing I'll do my best to describe the things that work / don't work, but I'm far from a "gear head" so please don't have too high an expectation for my ability to answer very technical questions. Please review my feedback on other items; I've never sold a car on Ebay before but hope my positive feedback over the years can offer some validity. This car is being sold AS IS - please be sure to review pictures for body damage. My friends who have more in depth knowledge of cars have told me recently how many replacement parts are now inferior and more cheaply constructed. I thought about turning it in during "Cash for Clunkers" until I found out it would be destroyed. I bought this car via Ebay in 2001. Before that I remember the paperwork showing it had about six owners in the previous 5 years. It is not a comfortable car for long distance travel, but remains an oddity on the road just as when they were first introduced. I regularly get people living their names and phone numbers under the wipers asking if I'm interested in selling it. With your own efforts perhaps this could be your art car, clown car, converted for rock climbing, or serve another honorable purpose. Many people expect it to have good gas mileage, but it gets about 24 mpg. In the wintertime with the four wheel drive on it gets about 20 mpg. A tree fell on it and totaled it out for insurance purposes several years ago. I was glad it still ran and could keep the car, then laughed when I realized the gas mileage improved after it was a little crunched! PLEASE NOTE: Parents, I don't consider this a safe car for young drivers. True, your kids won't be able to load it up with lots of friends, but it has a short wheel base and I've always thought it felt easy to tip at high speed. It should be very carefully driven, not a typical or predominant trait with young drivers. Here's what works: 1) The four wheel drive is awesome, especially for winter driving. 2) The battery is less than a year old and has been very reliable. 3) It starts and runs. 4) It has both original T-Tops intact (I noticed replacement T-Tops for this car are very pricey.) 5) All of the basic lighting - headlines, dome light, dash, turn signals, etc. 6) The alternator and starter are original to the car. They still work, but experience and common sense tell me they won't last much longer. Here is what doesn't work, and as interested buyers ask questions I'll probably realize an omission and add it to the list (if Ebay will allow the change!) 1) The driver's window motor is out, and the passenger side is very slow. 2) The factory AM/FM radio doesn't tune well, and the volume control only works after the car has been running for awhile. 3) As you can see, the body is in very rough shape. 4) Air conditioning and power steering operate from the same pump, and the pump went out a few years ago. I was given an estimate of $900 to repair it at that time, so opted to "pass". 5) The driver's side rear view mirror is not attached, but I have it (knocked it off in the dark with the recycling bin!) 6) It has body rust, most noticeably on lower driver's door. 7) Rip in upholstery on driver's seat, wire sticks up. 8) It needs a new exhaust system. I know there are very few of these cars left. Please ask any questions you might have! $500 non-refundable deposit due within 24 hours of auction close. Full payment in secured funds due at time of shipping or pick-up. The car is available for viewing and I'll gladly coordinate a meeting with someone to see it, as well as cooperate with your shipping service if necessary. Sorry, no swaps or trades. This car has a clear title. The VIN is #JS3LB1154T4100517. (For some reason Ebay rejected it in the field above, but when I went to question area it seems this is a common problem with selling cars.)
