1956 Packard Clipper Super 2 door Hardtop. The 1956 Packard was the last year Packard was produced before being totally taken over by Studebaker. The 1956 Clipper was considered one of the best in its field, and it stood on its own as one of the most refined and innovative cars in its day. This Packard has a very solid body and under carriage. It is equipped with a 352 V8 that was rebuilt about 6 years ago, and Runs very smooth. The transmission was up graded to a totally rebuilt Chrysler Automatic 727 torque flight to make this Packard more drivable. The transmission professional installation used a adapter kit that was specifically made to convert the 727 to the Packard. The Kit alone was over $900. The Packard was repainted about 20 years ago and still has a great shine. The paint looks great from about 5 feet, but a close inspection will show some age flaws of chips and some hazing. The interior is in very nice condition and was redone also about 20 years ago to match the original design. The Chrome is very nice and the stainless is near perfect. All gauges work, including the gas gauge and speedometer, but the odometer does not. All lights work properly. Even the factory AM radio works. All glass is good. The wipers are vacuum and are slow, but included is an electric wiper motor set up. I just added the 18 and 20 inch Coys Polished wheels and Speed Rated tires to give the Packard a more current Hot Rod look. The original wheels, hub caps and 4 new Coker Wide Whites are available if you prefer them over the Coys. This unusual and desirable Packard runs and drives extremely well. You will enjoy driving and showing this rare classic. If you are tired of all the Tri Fives Chevys, Camaros and Mustangs, perhaps this Packard is what you are looking for.
