Vehicle Detail

If you have been looking for a Futura project, here is your car. Please read and understand this description very carefully. This car was not intended to be sold, meaning all work done was for my personal use. I was building this as a daily driver for myself. I got sidetracked and now am looking at moving my business and home out of state. This car just doesn't fit the picture now. Reluctantly, I'm here to loose my butt.I purchased this 88K mile original car in Sept ,2010. I paid $1300 for it. I drove it home. It didn't run well, but it got me home. The engine only has 88K miles on it, but the carb was bad, from sitting. I didn't care as it was going to be a 302 swap car. If you look closely at the build pics, you will see how everything was done. First, I put a set of 10 holes and 225/60 tires on the car. Immediately it looked better IMO. But that was just the start. I converted the suspension to an '85 Mustang GT setup, front and back. The front has GT sway bars, rack and pinion and springs. The rear has a Traction-Lok quad shock rear with 3.08 gears. As you see in the pic brakes are new; front as well. Again, this wasn't being done for anyone else, it was for me. If you are an eagle eye and know your Futuras, you will notice that I swapped the front 4 headlight system to a 2 headlight system. I preferred the look of the two headlights, cleaner, motr "hot rod" to me. It also makes the look of this car very unique. I then started to do the cut-ins for the new paint. I choose a PPG 2010 Mustang dark charcoal. All cut-ins were done in detail, to make it look like the car originally came in this color.Let me say now, the reason I was interested in this car to start was that it was virtually rust free. The trunk was prepped and sprayed, looks better than the OEM paint. Both doors and jambs were done. I even removed the side windows and cut them in as well. When I got to the front, I sprayed the fender cut-ins as well as the outside of the front clip. I was planning on spraying the engine compartment more completely when the engine was removed. I added a Mustang GT hood scoop. All trim was removed from the front when it was painted. A black stripe was added to the hood. I also tucked both the front and rear bumpers. It looks much better and I included a pick of the front corner to see the front bumper tuck. Then came the interior. I removed the entire interior. It was weather beaten. I added a new headliner, new carper from ACC and seats were upgraded to buckets. The dash pad was replaced and the dash was resprayed to brighten it up and look as new as everything else. I also added a clutch pedal from a Mustang because I was going to use a T5 transmission. So as you see, a lot was done and done correctly. But then I was taken away from the project and time passed. Now, I need to sell it to get ready for the huge move. I have no idea how much money is invested in this car now, the more I think the more I remember. It was not a concern. As I stated previously, I know I will loose my butt here. But I want to recoup as much as possible and I hope to find someone who can finish this dream and appreciate what has been done. The car is basically all together. The pics I showed, many of building pics. The car is complete, except for a few pieces of trim that are not installed. It just needs the rest of the paint finished and the drivetrain swapped, if that is what you had in mind. The existing engine and transmission could be used, only 88K miles. But this baby is setup for a 302 :) The last picture shows how the car now looks. It is ready to go, tow dolly whatever it takes. It was being driven until the VB was taken out of the trans. You will have to tow the car. It no longer runs. The carb was never right and it has just set for a long time. The transmission was good and I used the valve body for another vehicle. Again, no concern to me because it was getting a T5. I do have the remainder of the PPG paint that will go along with the car $$$. So what is a Futura with Mustang GT suspension, clutch pedals for a T5, 10 hole wheels, new interior and cut-ins completed for a quality paint job worth? You tell me. I am starting the bidding at what I paid to have the car show up at my shop; $1300. This is a no reserve auction. The vehicle needs to leave within 1 week of the close of the auction. It needs to be towed. I require a $500 deposit via Paypal within 24 hours of the close of the auction. The balance can be paid in cash at time of pickup. Bid with total confidence . . but understand this is a project that needs to be completed. I am adding some info. I tried the other evening and not sure why it didn't show up. I have had lots of questions. Let me try to clear some up. I showed building pics so you could see how things were done. The paint cut-ins were done such that the car looks like it was originally charcoal. That was the goal. Look closely at the picture with the door open. Can you see the detail on the latch side of the door? It looks OEM. The 4 headlight grille is gone, traded for the 2 headlight. Now it doesn't look so "old man" looking in the front. All trim is with the car, only a few pieces are not on the body, but come with the car. The bottoms of the doors look as good as the rest, no rust, painted charcoal. I bought this car for myself because it was original paint and rust free basically. The interior is all redone. The seats are from another Fairmont, mine were coated from the sun. Both bumpers are in great shape, straight, no damage and tucked. Ask me more questions if I can help.
