Offered for sale is a 2002 Volkswagen Jetta GLS/TDI with 98,240 miles. Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) is 3VWSP69M42M097004. The engine is a TDI-1.9 Liter with an automatic transmission. A reserve and a buy-it-now are not included with this re-listing (these were on the original listing); it will sell at high bid. Title transfer will be completed by the seller at the time of full payment or pick-up at the discretion of the successful purchaser. The vehicle was purchased at the Carriage Trade Auto Auction, Conshocken, Pennsylvania with 98,000 miles. At the time of purchase the transmission was inoperable and has recently been replaced. Pennsylvania safety inspection was completed following the initial purchase by an independent repair facility. Pennsylvania safety inspection is good until September 30, 2013. The following items are noted as needing attention by the successful purchaser: 1) detailing, 2) check engine light, and 3) three center hub VW trim for the aluminum rims. Also, per questions and answers below, the water pump and timing belt are due for replacement. Overall body and interior condition are depicted on the twenty-four pictures which are included with this listing. It appears that prior owners were non-smokers as there is no detectable smoke odor. All vehicles sold have a 30 day, 1,500 mile dealer warranty; dealer pays 75% of the actual cost for parts and labor after payment of a $25.00 deductible per eligible repair visit which is the responsibility of the purchaser. The vehicle must be brought back to the dealer for repairs unless preapproval is made for repairs at another facility. The warranty covers the Engine, Transmission, and Drive Axles. Parts covered are as follows: Engine - Block, cylinder head, engine and all internal parts, flywheel on cars with automatic transmissions, fuel pump, manifolds, radiators, rotary engine housing, and water pump. Transmission - The transmission case and all internal parts including the torque converter. Drive Axle - Axle shaft, front & rear axle, housing including all internal parts, propeller, shaft, universal joints. The car has a brand new or rebuilt tranny in it now. Really like the car Jan-06-13 A: The transmission was replaced with a used transmission from a VW Beetle. Transmission fluid and filter were replaced. It was ordered on-line by locating it via "car-part.com". It was shipped to my business location in Northeast Pennsylvania out of Texas. There are no problems with the used transmision and it works fine. When I replace an engine or transmission I search for one that has less miles than on the vehicle. How many owners were there? Where has it spent most of it's life? Do you have maintenance records for it? Is there a good record of the mileage in the vehicle report? What are the details of the transmission you repaired? Was it from a junk yard, or did a reputable transmission shop do the repairs? If it was repaired does that shop have a warranty on the transmission? If it was from a junk yard what was the mileage on that transmission and do you have records to verify the mileage and the history of that transmission? Jan-06-13 A: Response to questions: 1) Timing belt/water pump - I pulled the cover and it does not appear that the timing belt and the water pump were replaced. 2) The vehicle was titled in Texas prior to being titled in Pennsylvania on 9/13/2005 with 051,617 miles. Cannot determine whether it was the same owner or a different owner. Owner on the title resided in Philadelphia, PA. The title states that the mileage is original; there are no brands on the title. 3) I do not have any maintenance records in my posession. 4) The transmission came from Bill's Auto Salvage, Denison, TX & was from a VW Beetle 1.9 TDI.
