1963 FORD GALAXIE MAYBERRY SHERIFF'S SQUAD CAR I have for sale a 1963 Ford Galaxie Mayberry squad car reproduction. It has a 289 V8 with a 3 speed on the column manual transmission, with just 63k actual miles. I've owned this car for about 6 years. Before starting this project I purchased a DVD of the complete 1963 season of the Andy Griffith Show. I watched all of them and took lots of notes. I started with a rust free, solid base model Galaxie, which is the correct trim level for this Andy Griffith/Mayberry squad car reproduction. The interior was just as the pictures show, very nice and original. I had it repainted black and white, which included painting the door jambs and the underneath of the hood and trunk lid. It has a working gumball light on the roof and an under hood siren. I installed a non-working, but "of the period" 2 way radio. The car also has the correct whip antenna attached to the left side of the rear bumper. When I put new tires on it, I looked for the tallest 14" blackwall radials I could find. In the trunk is a vintage fishing pole (Andy needed that sometimes), and an "of the period" aluminum cooler and tackle box. It even has a 1963 North Carolina front license plate. The trim and bumpers are all in good original condition. It needs an engine compartment detailing. The car runs and shifts great. It has the common cold start puff of smoke, then performs normally. This car attracts a lot of attention wherever it goes. I've had a lot of fun with it but its time for someone else to enjoy it. Its a very well done reproduction.
