Vehicle Detail
BODY: This little jeep (term used generically-- "jeep" was what the US Army called a GPU, or "general purpose utility") was bought in Florida last year. Solid, no rust-- one exception: I removed the rubber gasket for the rear hatch and applied Rust Bullet since there was slight rust there when I got the vehicle. After applying the Rust Bullet I replaced the rubber gasket (see photos). The convertible top is less than a year old. It was replaced in the spring. Note that the car is equipped with a tow hitch. ENGINE: runs strong, runs perfectly. Starts right up. Original miles only 68,000. INTERIOR: very, very clean. Rear seat is completely original (see photo) and in nearly new condition. The original front seats were worn out and very uncomfortable. I replaced them with very comfortable and solid seats from a '95 Honda Civic which I got from a friend of mine. They recline nicely and have been installed to allow more leg room for the driver than the original design for the Samurai seats. The other non-original item is the radio and new set of stereo speakers. It has a CD player and a jack for plugging in an MP3 player or other device. Windows crank easily up and down. Door latches work perfectly. TIRES: properly balanced and excellent tread life remaining on all including the spare. BRAKES: excellent EXHAUST: the system is solid except for a small leak I found in the muffler so I replaced the muffler. FOUR-WHEEL DRIVE: works perfectly. Front hubs must be locked to engage. This requires turning the hub a quarter turn. Low range and high range transfer case works perfectly. LIGHTS: all working as they are supposed to. I added parabolic fog lamps which provide excellent illumination along each side of the vehicle for a wide beam at night. INSTRUMENTATION: all working perfectly (as do windshield wipers) HEATER/DEFROSTER: bit clunky switching between heat and defrost but will blow hot for either. Fan works in all speeds.
