Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is a 1966 Ford Mustang with it's original 289 and a 3 speed automatic transmission. This has been a California car since 1967 and I have the original title from 1970, as this was a family members car and I am listing the car for him. The car is a running and driving project as she sits. The car has power steering, manual drum brakes, and is complete! The car has been sitting since 1992, but I was able to get her running and driving with a little work. The car is being sold as a project as she is not ready for the road yet. The car starts right up, idles pretty smooth but, she does have some blow by. Like I said she has sat since 1992. The car will be sold to the highest bidder as there is NO RESERVE!! The car will need to be trailered to it's destination. I will cover the car in the next few catagories, and if you have any questions please email me and I will answer them ASAP!! These cars are getting very tough to find, the price is cheap so don't miss out!! Engine/ Trans: The engine is the original 289 with a 1966 date code. It has a 2V carb on it that works decent. The car has power steering, drum brakes, and the original style single exhaust. I flushed the fuel lines, put a new fuel pump on the car and she fired up right away. She runs pretty smooth but, like I said the motor has some blow by and is worn out. The car shows 91,000 miles and that is the mileage of the car and the motor so, it would be best to plan on a rebuild during the restoration process to be safe. You can hear he run and you can take her on a test drive if you wish and you will see she runs pretty good! The transmission shifts nice and smooth, and is all sealed up. Interior/ Exterior: The interior is bone stock minus the original 8 track player. The radio in it's place does work. The glass is all good in the car, all the gauges work just fine, blinkers work, all the lights work, but the horn does not work. The interior is complete and just needs attention. The doors open and close just fine, the windows roll up and down also. The exterior has had one repaint many years ago. There is some small rust bubbles in the lower doors but, the underside of the doors are perfect. The floors in the car look great, expect for the toe board on the passenger side for a leaking heater core. It's visible but, it has not made it all the way through yet. You can't see through the rust that is. The trunk pans look great with jus some surface rust here and there. The rear quarters both have some bondo in them and have seen 47 years of wear. They are the original quarters but they need to be worked. The car is a project type car! The winning bidder is required to pay a $500 non refundable deposit due within 24 hours of winning the car! The car is being sold " As Is" due to it's age. The deposit must be paid through Paypal. The remaining balance is due within 5 days of the auction closing, and the final payment may be made with a Cashiers check, wire transfer or cash in person. The car must be picked up within 2 weeks of the auction closing, and my zip code is 89131 for shipping purposes. Please email me with any questions, and good luck!! On Jan-06-13 at 19:02:03 PST, seller added the following information: I forgot to mention the transmission was just rebuilt before the car was parked, and the driveshaft was rebalanced and has new U joints also. The muffler is brand new, along with a new fuel sending unit that I put in when I cleaned out the fuel lines. That is a new master cylinder too, as I flushed out the brake lines before I serviced the brakes. The fronts were new shoes and hardware, and the back brakes had plenty of life left on them. Good Luck!!
