Vehicle Detail
Very solid 1963 Corvair Monza 900 convertible with 4 speed manual and 102 HP engine. From the documentation that was included when I purchased the car the previous owner to me owned the car for 20 years in the Chicago area and before that another owner had it in Newport News, Virginia for 20 years before that. I don't have documentation on the car previous to that. The car is extremely solid, the only rust was in the front floor boards as is typical with many old convertibles. Brand new floor panels have been installed but need to be welded in place, currently held in place for welding with some self drilling sheet metal screws. Will then need to be seam sealed, painted and then have the carpet installed (which is included). I also have new kick and door panels for both sides, but they need to be installed. Can runs and drives, I had been enjoying it this past summer, I put about 1,200 miles on it, but does need some TLC. The following need attention: Wipers don't work Fuel gauge remains at Full Clutch cable and shift linkage could use some fine adjustment Some of the cables controlling the heating system are froze up New ducts need to be installed in the heating system but they are included Needs a muffler Convertible top should be replaced Front driver seat has some large rips Top of rear seat has some rips Trunk lid needs new weather stripping Needs front end alignment Here are some things that I've done since I've owned the car: New fuel pump New belt New battery New rubber fuel lines and fuel filters (one in each carb, one in line) Machined front hubs to prepare for disc brake conversion Cleaned and repacked front wheel bearings Fresh gear oil in the transmission and differential Converted to Pertronix electronic ignition New flame thrower coil New plugs, wires, distributor cap and rotor Converted to internally regulated alternator, wired properly so generator light in dash still works Converted to spin on oil filter Installed proper Corvair ignition switch New center link New front seat belts I have described this car honestly and accurately. The car is very solid, great for somebody that want's to finish up the mechanicals and just enjoy it as is. The tiny little bubbles in a few areas of paint are the result of some one's poor prep work before painting. The car looks good from 15 feet, only notice the little blemishes up close. The car is in winter storage, I'm selling the car because my wife and I are expecting our first child in May. The staring bid is the reserve, I encourage you to come see the car in person. Car is road worthy, drive it home if you purchase and you want to brave the cold. All new parts are from Clark's Corvair. Email me if interested or for more pictures. Would be willing to store until spring if you can't transport immediately, but you would have to pay for the car first or pay a non-refundable deposit. I'm reasonable, if you have questions please just ask. Thanks and good luck.
