In 1977, Chevrolet was honored with pacing the Indy 500 with a Corvette. In March of 1978, the Special Limited Edition Pace Car was manufactured with only one Pace Car per dealer allotted. A total of 6,502 Pace Cars were produced that year.  All Pace Car edition Corvettes were equipped with the new glass T-tops, alloy wheels, power windows, rear defogger, air conditioning, sport mirrors, tilt/telescope steering wheel, heavy-duty battery and power door locks .  Growing up in Europe , this was always one of my dream cars . After moving to California 6 years ago , i found this beauty in Palmdale and bought it on the spot from the second owner . It is a original 1978 pace car Corvette . It is stunning and truly fun to drive . I do get compliments on it whenever i take it out .The body and the paint are in great condition . The interior is clean , as the many pictures will show . But the best thing about this car is the way it drives . There are no mechanical issues i can think of . Just a couple of months ago it passed the very strict CA smog check without problems.  This car only has 30k miles on it and it has been maintained well . The tires have less than 2k miles on them . I also do have 2 original pace car jackets which came with the car , the factory covers for the t-tops and a custom fitted car cover ( $200,- value ) . This car will be sold with a clear CA title in my name .  I would prefer to sell this car to somebody local who could actually come by and appreciate it / test drive it . But i would also be willing to help with shipping arrangements or an airport pick up for out of town buyers. All shipping charges would have to be paid by the winning bidder . Please do all your " due diligence " BEFORE placing a bid . This is a gorgeous 35 year old car in great condition . It will be sold " as is " and " where is " and without a warranty . Whoever gets this car , should not be disappointed .
