This car is being re-listed due to the fact that the winning bidder retracted his bid after the close of auction. Please do not place bids if you have no intention on buying the car. This low mileage 1985 Mercedes-Benz 300D turbo is the last year of the indestructible W123 body style. The original owner purchased the car new at Mercedes-Benz of Carlsbad, Ca. and had all service performed at the dealership. All maintenance and service intervals are dated and stamped in the maintenance book. The car has been in Southern California all its life. - Mechanically its in excellent condition. The motor starts right up and sounds great. The tried and true 5 cylinder turbo diesel motor idles smooth and has great power throughout the entire rpm range. The a/c unit was totally restored and blows ice cold or warm, the radiator is 5 months old, new brakes, bushings, valve job, transmission tune-up with all seals replaced and new fluids. The cruise control still works and holds its set speed (which is rare on w123). The power sunroof/windows operate properly as well as the power passenger side mirror. All drain plugs have been cleaned out so there is no water intrusion in the interior. - Transmission is smooth and shifts as it should. No hard shifting or flaring. All the electronics work. The steering and suspension are tight and runs with no vibrations or shakes or pulling at all speeds and on braking. - Exterior: this car has the original gold (Champaign) paint. After 26 years it is still holding up extremely well and shines very well. There are very minute paint imperfections which are very hard to see. - Interior: the interior looks new. Seats are firm with excellent support, no sagging springs or discoloration. Upholstery is clean, the wood is almost perfect and all interior lights work. The interior door panels show no rippling as seen in a lot of Mercedes-Benz of this age. I have all the original keys (still new), original unopened first aid kit, original tool kit, jack and full spare, jack. I have all owners manual, place cards, id tag that originally came with the vehicle. Additionally, I have all service records during my six year ownership and from the original owner.
