History: I'm probably the 4th or 5th owner, the first being the Forest Service.Interior: pretty clean but showing it's age. Driver's seat and headliner have issues. Stock rubber mat, no carpet.Exterior: Tires are all terrains at 3/8" tread. Professionally repainted inside and out, used to be tan; with typical scratches and flaking. No rust through. All glass is good, manual rear window works.Drivetrain: stock 4.2l inline 6 with reciept for headwork, stock 4 speed tranny, 208 transfer case, dana 44 front with locking hubs, Amc corp. rear, not sure on ratio. Brakes re-done by previous owner. Clutch seems strong. Emergency brake works.Issues: the aforementioned interior, leaks oil more than typical, sometimes smokes. Previous owner removed some emissions equipment. Overall, this is a really clean example of a Cherokee. I've owned it for about 5 months, and it's never let me down. I bought it for a diesel conversion but that all fell through. I would drive this Jeep home, wherever that may be, but carry tools. I will help load on a carrier if you send one. Has 4 good speakers though.heater, defrost, wipers, lights and horn all work good.heater controls don't stay locked but a newer control is included (doesn't affect opperation)rear window works as mentioned but cover over keyhole is sloppy; still locks though.driveability: again, sometimes it smokes, and sometimes it seems underpowered. I've fixed several vacuum leaks but there is still something going on. But this was my daily driver. IF you do drive it away, I will help re-pack the front wheel bearings as I've never checked those. On Dec-17-12 at 10:17:02 PST, seller added the following information: **Addition** another bidder wanted pics of the frame and areas he pointed out as potential rust problems, so I hope they came through. No frame pics, but the others are of the lower kick panels and underneath the doors. It is rusty there, and I apologize I didn't see it before. The kick panels, especially the pass. side, seem ok, but the doors are rusty underneath.
