Vehicle Detail

I bought this truck back in July to take to the car shows while my classic Studebaker went in for some much needed restoration work. Low and behold my Studebaker will be coming back to me in a few weeks (much sooner than I had anticipated) and I will have no garage space for the truck. I have put less than 200 miles on this truck since purchase, but I'll tell you it get's a much bigger response from the public than my classic Studebaker. From young and old you get smiling faces and a thumbs up as well as a few honks. This truck is as beautiful in the flesh as it is in the pictures. As my time with the truck is limited I will pass on the information gleaned from the previous owner. The S-10 used to build the truck was a West Coast truck, so rust was never an issue. The guy I bought the truck from owned it for five years and put 5,000 miles on it. He bought it from the people who built it; those people sold their business to a company now known as Kreative Rodwerks. This company builds this truck to this day, so if the truck is ever in an accident the fiberglass components can be readily purchased. They even offer a custom bed cover for the truck that was not available from the original company. They sell the kit for the truck for $11,000 plus shipping (my guess around $1,000). So if you ordered the kit, bought an S-10 for say $5,000; bought custom wheels and tires for $2,500. Added a custom paint job for $5,000. At the end of the day you could build your own truck for about $24,000 plus several thousand hours of your time. Or you could buy this truck for a fraction of the price. What else the prior owner told me: brakes, AC compressor, wheels and tires, and paint were all new when he bought the truck, so today they have about 5,000 miles on them. He told me when the truck hit 105,000 miles the odometer went out on it and he replaced it with one from the junkyard. The junkyard odometer reads 176,000 miles and works fine. Note that this info is from the prior owner and I cannot attest to the truck's actual mileage. What I have done: -recharged and serviced the AC system -replaced the door poppers and added a Viper alarm system (very costly) -added new exhaust components and sealed exhaust leaks -repaired electrical issues (horn and tail lights were sporatic, now work great) The motor runs well and has 40 lbs of oil pressure and I have had no mechanical issues with the truck. Keep in mind that the truck does have over 100,000 miles on it and will need mechanical renewal at some point in the future. If I could keep the truck I would likely put a small block Chev V8 coupled to a 700R4 tranny, but that need is a long way off. There are some paint chips and scrapes on the truck, only noticeable on close inspection, insurance estimate to repair is $700.00 (insurance estimates tend to be high). The hardwood in the bed although presentable could be refinished. Note that this is a used vehicle and there is no warranty express or implied. One more thing: At the recent TriState car show the truck won Best in Class and plaque will go with the truck.
