Vehicle Detail

mr_buick Store 1967 Buick GS 400 Gran Sport GS400 I purchased this 67 GS 400 from a fellow Buick collector this past summer, along with two other cars. They had owned this GS for the last 20 years, and were reluctantly parting with it in order to move to a house with a smaller garage. This was originally a Nebraska car, but has been garaged its entire life and spent the last 17 years in Tucson, Arizona. The underside is clean, with no signs of salt or moisture damage. This is an original car with 109,000 miles, and has never been abused, disassembled, wrecked, or abused in any way. It has the solid, rattle-free ride of a preserved original car. The panel fit is excellent, and the doors and windows close with perfect alignment. In an effort to take this car to the next level, the previous owners had it repainted in the original color seven years ago. The paint work is show-quality, and all panels are arrow-straight. The base-clear paint was color sanded and buffed, and the car was hardly driven since. Per the previous owner, the paint and body bill was over $6000 alone. The vinyl top was also replaced at the same time, along with all of the door and window weatherstripping. In addition, the inner and outer window fuzzies are new, as is the vent window rubber. When I purchased the car in July, it came with a complete interior kit from Legendary, still sealed in plastic wrappers. I had the entire kit installed by a local upholstery shop, and the interior looks fantastic. The seats, door panels, rear armrest covers, package tray, headliner, sail panels, sun visors, and carpet have all been replaced with accurate reproductions. The original dash pad is in perfect condition. This is an original Buick GS 400, with the correct, original drive train. I have included pictures of the data plate, VIN plate, and engine block casting numbers for verification. It is equipped with factory AC, AM radio with rear speaker, 14 inch Rally wheels, automatic transmission, and a 2.93 posi-traction rear end. It also retains the desirable "Star Wars" air cleaner. The only modifications to the car were the addition of a Edelbrock B4B intake manifold, manual choke, and custom dual exhaust with removable "cut-outs." The B4B is supposed to be good for an additional 15 horsepower, and is topped with the original Rochester four barrel carburetor. I have driven this car quite a bit over the last few months, and it performs quite well. The GS starts easily, idles well, and runs cool, even in heavy traffic. The brakes work well, and are equipped with aluminum drums in the front. This car was ordered without power brakes. The transmission shifts well in all gears. The suspension feels tight, with decent handling for a 45 year old muscle car. Noted Flaws: AC is complete but non-functional Original radio is not working Horn does not work Steering wheel is cracked The passenger side rear body mount has some very minor rust perforation A few small bubbles have come up in the paint just behind the rear wheels. You have to get down low to see them. Trunk floor has been sanded and painted, but still has some pitting from previous surface rust. It is original and solid, however. The plastic grill has a few small hairline cracks The heater blower works, and the core is still hooked up, but the unit does not produce heat. The left, rear wheel center cap is loose I have been a classic Buick enthusiast for my entire adult life. I am an active member of the Buick Club of America, and the director of the Southern Arizona Chapter. I have a number of Buicks in my personal collection, and sell a few cars a year to fund my ongoing restoration projects. Please feel free to call or email me with questions. My name is Alex, and my number is 520-465-2539. $500 deposit due within 24 hours of auction close. Balance due via wire transfer within 7 days, and the car must be picked up within two weeks. Clear Arizona title in my name. The car is currently registered and insured in the State of Arizona. Buyer is responsible for all shipping charges and arrangements, and I will gladly work with the shipper you choose. I am located in Tucson, Arizona, just four miles from Interstate 10.
