READ ENTIRE ADD BEFORE BIDDING. Up for sale is a 2002 Volkswagen Jetta TDI 1.9 diesel with automatic transmission. NO RESERVE. I purchased this car not long ago to save on gas as these cars are know for fuel mileage well into the 40 mpg plus range. I bought the car and it went thru Delaware inspection with NO issues. The car runs well with plenty of power. I have clocked over 40 mpg. THE BAD: What I have noticed is the automatic transmission slips briefly when shifting in or out of 3rd gear. Almost like it is going into neutral for a split second. First, second and fourth gears seem fine. The transmission seems to go into reverse fine also. I had a P0740 code I cleared when I purchased the car but it has not shown up again. The car is still DRIVABLE and with my long highway commuting it is not as much of an issue. (I AM STILL DRIVING IT) I lift slightly off the gas and allow it to go into 3rd gear. I do not see any leaks. I did lots of research on VW forums and the internet and this is common with this year Jetta. I also found this can be a simple fluid change, fluid level, valve body solenoids or ??? For this reason I am selling the car AS IS. I am not a mechanic and do not have any additional finances to pursue this transmission issue. I am being 100% honest with the sale of this vehicle and do not want bad feedback for any reason. Want to know more PLEASE ASK. The center console plastic hings are broken (also common for this year). The passenger window switch (on drivers side) rolls the window down but not back up. Not a big deal because the passenger side window switch functions fine. Volkswagen engine covers are missing. The Jetta and TDI emblems are missing from the trunk. No floor mats. THE GOOD: The car starts and runs well. Power is very good thru first and second gear. I do not see any leaks in driveway. Air conditioner works well and is cold. Heat also works well and hot. original factory radio and it also works (did not test CD or cassette). All dash lights, gauges and indicators work. Cruise control works. I have the original keyless entry key FOB (1) and all factory manuals are in the glove compartment. The tires ARE BRAND NEW Firestones in excellent condition (see pics). Interior is in good condition with no tears or cracks in dash etc. A few stains that could possibly be cleaned/ removed. The exterior looks good and the paint shines well. There is a dent in the drivers front fender (see pic) and some other small parking lot dings. Some light scratches on the trunk and around the trunk from loading. Note it is not new and will have some scratches and dings. I do not see any visible rust. Overall in good interior/ exterior condition for a 10 year old car. The car can be test driven locally. I ran a vehicle history report thru carinfo1.com. It did not show any issues. I can email to you if interested. If the car is tagged in Delaware the tag will be included and is good till 8/13. There are NO warranties or returns. Payment is in cash on pickup of vehicle. Vehicle must be picked up and paid in full within 7 days or will be relisted.
