In 1961, Raymond Loewy and his design team was commissioned by Studebaker to design the Avanti. As soon as it was off the drawing board, and in the midst of perhaps the most imaginative period of automotive history, the Avanti inspired design attained the status of a classic.From the first Studebaker production in 1963, Avanti body style has stayed pretty much the same. From 1964 to 1983 Avanti was produced by Nate Altman and his partner Leo Newman, as they had purchased all rights from Studebaker. This car was produced under the ownership of Steven H Blake, from 1984 to 1986. Later, 1987 to 2007, the ownership shifted again to ethenol developer Michael E. Kelly. Some information about this 1984 unmolested Avanti. I bought this car 3 years ago with reported very low original mileage. I have traced it back several years before I bought if, and the mileage was consistent. I cannot verify that the mileage is accurate, but is believed to be so. The car shows 28,631 miles. Other than total preventative maintenance, the only things I have done is a quality repaint in the original copper color with new tires and wheels. I do have the original wheels. Everything works on the car from the power moon roof to the power trunk release. It has a Nardi wood steering wheel, full leather interior, full instrumemtation, recaro seats and burlwood dash and console. The cruise control works, but is not dependable.
