Vehicle Detail

0 false 18 pt 18 pt 0 0 false false false Up for sale is a 1988 Volvo 240 DL 5-Speed manual. Most likely the cleanest Volvo 240 currently for sale. I say this because I have literally taken out and cleaned nearly every piece inside the car. What you see here is my time and dedication to a car that looks and acts like it has half the miles shown. The interior took months for me to restore because I replaced every cracked part inside and did so by spending unreasonable time getting parts that were perfect, original, unrestored, oem Volvo parts that literally take months to find due to being almost non-existent. The car has never been smoked in. The paint is 100% original and shines very well due to a 9+ hour buffing job that was done by a professional company 6 months ago. The engine and transmission are original and the clutch was replaced around 5 or 6 years ago by the 2nd owner. The clutch still works perfectly and should last a long time. Additionally, I have replaced every exterior lens in this car, which is obviously why it looks different than the other typical worn-out 240’s you are seeing for sale right now. This car was purchased new in San Diego, Ca by a female driver. It was then purchased by the 2nd owner (who lives in Venice, Ca) around 10 years later who is a middle aged man that gave me all of his religious maintenance records when I bought the car from him approximately a year and a half ago. When I bought the car, the odometer was broken (common issue with these cars) and stuck at 180,000 miles. Before I bought the car from him, we looked at his maintance and mile logs he was recording before his odometer broke, and concluded that he was driving the car on average around 5,000 miles a year. Since his odometer broke 3 years before our transaction, we concluded that it obviously had around 195,000 miles on it due to the logic of mileage he would average on it a year (he owned another car along with this one). After this deal breaker, I bought the car and immediately fixed the odometer and had the miles mechanically moved up to start counting at 195,000 miles. The odometer has been counting fine ever since and the car now has 223,000 miles because I have driven it 28,000 miles since purchased. The A/C blows ice cold and was converted to R134A by a Volvo dealer. Every interior light has been replaced and every single part of this car is in full working order, aside from the passenger seat heater not working and the need of a new plastic control gear so you can adjust the back portion of the driver’s seat. The side trim pieces behind the driver’s and passenger’s seatbelt are also cracked (they’re just for aesthetics though), and the left speaker will sometimes cut out. The carpet also has some tears around the shifter. Besides these few ocd things, the car is ready to go. It just passed smog. As you know though, it is still a 24 year old car, so it still has the usual wear that a 24 year old car would have, because naturally it’s impossible for a car not to. The only reason why I’m selling it is because I’m ready to move on to something else, maybe something a little more modern. I’m not going to say that you won’t find another 1988 like this because you’ll be able to answer that yourself by looking at this ad and how well I have kept this car up. I can be reached at 858-414-4462. Feel free to make me an offer. Thanks for looking.-Jake
