Vehicle Detail

There is no way that my words can convey what an incredibly special car that this is to us. It is a totally restored and nearly flawless 1941 Cadillac with the ride of a modern Cadillac. This Cadillac has been upgraded with a completely rebuilt drive train and frame. The person who rebuilt this beautiful car had completed two dozen restoration projects previously, all of them 100% original, but there was a problem. He wanted a 1941 Cadillac with modern conveniences, and reliability. He determined that it would be possible to highly modify the chassis of a 1977 Eldorado so that the body of a 1941 Cadillac could be mounted on it. This project turned into one of the creations that he was most proud of. This type of restoration project is known as a "Restomod". I am not sure whether that sounds easy to someone else, but it was not a project for the faint of heart and took countless hours and many months to accomplish along with a boat load of money. No expense was spared. Everything was rebuilt including the engine... we have a stack of receipts about 2" high. Untold thousands were spent on the paint, the mohair interior and every other detail. When the car is displayed we frequently have persons who do restoration upholstery work ask to take pictures. Possibly the most striking detail is the super high quality chrome work. The chrome pieces are extraordinary! I am currently working on a 1942 Cadillac project; the estimate to get the chrome pieces restored and refurbished and then re-chromed was around $15,000... thank you EPA! That is why you see less and less high quality chrome work on restored vintage vehicles. There is no way that I can adequately describe how much love and attention to detail went into this car. This car has an incredibly comfortable ride and will literally cruise all day at 80 miles per hour or above. Here is what you get with this one of a kind beauty: rebuilt 425 V-8 engine, automatic transmission, 4 wheel power disc brakes, power steering, power windows, power door locks, heavy duty alternator, all new chrome, all new glass, 12 volt system, beautiful chromed am-fm radio with a MP3 CD player hidden in the glove compartment. It also has Goodyear Classic White Wall Tires and a new 134a air conditioning compressor and system. The car also has a modern tilting steering wheel which makes it possible for a much larger than average driver to comfortably sit behind the wheel which can be a problem in many pre-war cars. The color is Managua Beige Metallic which was original to 1941. We have used this beautiful car in numerous parades, at museums, at numerous special events and fund raisers. I have dressed up as a butler and my wife as a maid, when we have used it for friends weddings and senior proms. It is great for 40s dances and USO events. It is also great for going to our favorite restaurants. Our most fond memory of it is from when the Washington National Guard held their last ball at the Armory in Tacoma, WA. before it was closed. Hundreds of pictures were taken of our local military heroes using the 1941 Cadillac as a background. There is not an office out at Camp Murray that doesn't have a picture of our 1941 Cadillac hanging on the wall. It was a very special night. Unlike a typical 40s car you can hop in it and depend on it starting and getting you to your destination and back without difficulty. Several times we have been at parades and events when other vintage cars wouldn't start. And when it is hot out, we have stayed comfortable while others in pre-war cars have been uncomfortable. Maybe this is not as important to younger people, but we have taken many elderly veterans with us to events where they are being honored. The heat of summer can be very difficult for older passengers. This car actually has an air conditioning blower and vents under the seat that blows directly into the back passenger compartment. We had the best vacation driving it across the country in the middle of summer when we first purchased it. We originally purchased this car because my wife wanted a 1940s car that she could drive. She is very slightly built and has neck and back problems. It turned out that she simply is not capable of driving and old 1940s car. She needs power brakes and power steering as many of us who are getting older do. This car also has other modern conveniences and safety features such as theater lighting, lights in the rear view mirror, a brake light in the rear window, seat belts. It is also front wheel drive. There is such a huge difference in quality in "restomod " cars. Many appear to have been created largely to avoid buying expensive original parts. This car was created to be something very special... an extraordinary vehicle that has modern dependability, conveniences, safety, and comfort. 95% of those we meet do not realize that this car is not all original until we point it out to them. This job was done that well. This classic car is being sold as is. If you have any questions please ask. A $1000 non-refundable deposit is due within 72 hours of the end of the auction. Balance of funds are due within 7 days. Buyer is responsible for all shipping costs. The car is advertised locally and we reserve the right to end the auction early. Bdders with less than 10 positive feedbacks must contact us before bidding. We are currently working on a 1942 Cadillac Series 63 that was once owned by Winnifred Filson. We did a lot of research after finding the original Cadillac Owners Card in the 42's glove compartment. The Filson marketing department mangled the details a bit and made it sound like our 1941 Cadillac was owned by Mrs. Filson, but at least Winnifred is getting a little credit after running the company from 1919 until 1958. http://axiom.ipaperus.com/virtuoso/Filson/October_2012/ On Oct-24-12 at 16:55:02 PDT, seller added the following information: A few more pictures from the Museum of Flight and a Senior Prom
