Vehicle Detail

This is an extremely rare 1964 Buick Skylark Convertible equipped with a factory installed 4 speed manual transmission. Less than 200 Skylark Convertibles were ordered this way in 1964, so this is a very rare and desirable package. The engine is the 300 cubic inch V8, known as the Wildcat 310 (310 is the torque rating, horsepower is 210). This engine was equipped from the factory with aluminum heads and intake, and a two barrel Rochester carburetor. The transmission is a Borg-Warner T-10, with a Hurst Competition linkage. This particular example has spend it's entire life in Tucson, Arizona, and the perfectly preserved body panels and undercarriage attest to it's dry desert heritage. I have included detailed pictures of the underside, including the inner rockers, body mounts, floors, and suspension components. I would be happy to email additional photos upon request. I purchased this Skylark from a fellow Buick enthusiast in Tucson, who had just completed a full engine rebuild before selling the car due to a move. I purchased this car along with two others from their collection. When I purchased it, the car had only been driven for a few test miles. I have made some repairs and improvements to the car over the past few months, and have driven it an additional 30 miles without trouble. The car starts very easily, idles well, runs cool, and does not smoke or make any other indications of trouble. The clutch engages smoothly, and all gears shift without drama. The car has quite a bit of power, and performs exceptionally well. The following parts have been replaced or rebuilt within the last two years: Full engine rebuild, including new valves, main/rod bearings, rings and seals. Rebuilt Radiator Rebuilt steering box and power steering pump New ignition wires, plugs, rotor, etc. New Petronix ignition New Turn signal assembly NOS ignition switch Rebuilt alternator New solid state voltage regulator (original is included) All new door seals, trunk seal, and top weatherstrip Professionally rebuilt carburetor New battery and cables New belts and hoses New dual exhaust This Buick has an older enamel paint job, which still looks great and is perfect for a driver quality car. It has been lightly color sanded and buffed, and detailed with a fresh hand wax. The paint has a few imperfections, but no significant damage, dents, or large scratches. The car was originally yellow, but the original hue was a few shades lighter than the present color. The interior has been redone, and is very similar to the original pattern. One of the vinyl buttons is missing from the passenger bucket seat, but the upholstery is otherwise in excellent condition. The top is also in excellent condition, with a clear rear window and no stains or tears. The power top hydraulics work very well, and the top moves up and down with ease. The windows are manual, and have good alignment. All the lights and horn are functional, and the original AM radio plays very well. Items that may need attention: The wipers do not work The driver's side front fender is not aligned properly, which can be seen in the photos. It does not appear to have sustained major trauma, and the panel fit to the door and hood is fine. The belt line trim is about a quarter inch off at this spot. The front bumper has a dent below the passenger side headlight, which is visible in the pictures. The thermostat housing appears to be seeping a few drops of coolant. Nothing major, but I do find a few drops under the car after it cools down. This car runs and drives very well, and is ready to be enjoyed immediately. The engine is still in it's break in period, so you will want to change the oil after 500 miles. Four speed Buicks are very rare, and this one is a blast to drive! Lots of extra parts are included with the sale, along with ten years of receipts from myself and the previous owner. I am still in touch with the former owner, who bought the car in 2002. I collect and restore vintage Buicks and Cadillacs, and have been an active member of the Buick Club of America for the past fifteen years. I am also the director of the Southern Arizona Chapter of the BCA. I do sell a few cars a year from my collection, and use the money to fund my ongoing restorations. Please feel free to call me with any questions you may have about this car. My name is Alex, and my number is 520-465-2539. I have a clear Arizona title, in my name. The car is available for inspection and test driving during the auction term. I reserve the right to cancel the listing if the car is sold locally prior to the end of the auction. The winning bidder must make a $500 deposit via paypal within 48 hours of auction close. Balance due via wire transfer within 7 days. Car must be picked up within 14 days. Shipping is the buyer's responsibility, and I am happy to coordinate pick up with the shipper of your choice. I am located just 4 miles from Interstate 10 in Tucson, Arizona.
