Vehicle Detail
1990 chevy K1500 4x4 extended cab long box 5.0L V8 5speed manual transmission 65,000 original miles. Virtually rust free. I have owned truck for 4 years. I bought it with 39,000 miles. I changed transmission oil, transfer case oil, rear diff oil, changed fuel filter, new belts/hoses & flushed coolant, etc. New brakes/drums/disc’s all the way around. New parking brake cables. New alternator. Replaced tires two years ago- & they have 5/16” of tread left. Battery is newer. Had Front end aligned & suspension work done last Fall. . Gearing is highway, it will get 17mpg on the freeway. When I put new tires on, I went one size down to counteract the highway gears a bit. Seats are cloth bucket with center console & rear seat is a cloth bench. Previous owner had put truck bed liner material on lower rocker panels . Does have some scratches in paint & small dings. I percieve that truck had a cap on for most of its life & it has a bed liner so the bed is pretty clean. Has cruise control, rear sliding window, intermittent wipers. Windows & locks are manual. Tailpipe & muffler are newer. Tailgate latch & door locks were both binding- so both have been replaced. Underside is very clean for its age. Bads/quirks/issues, Only rust spot is on passenger side on the lower part of the extended cab. I cut out the rust & coated the inside & outside of the panel with POR-15 and then patched the hole, but it would need more truck bed liner to blend in Air conditioning does not work. Radio had a short & is currently removed- but it & the factory radio are included When I bought the truck the prior owner stated that it didn’t always like going into reverse, so he would go into 5th & then bring it down into reverse. That’s what I always did & have never had any issues. Oil pressure—oil pressure seemed low- was 17# after warming up. I took it in & they dropped the pan, inspected the bearings & put a new oil pump in. it now reads 60# cold but after warming up- drops down to the 20’s-. Anti-freeze leak- engine is losing anti-freeze- took it to two shops & they could not find any leaks. Perception is that it is leaking at the head gasket only at a particular point while warming up. While I have put radiator stop leak in, I perceive that doing that is a band aid & that at some point a new head gasket is warranted. That beings said- I’d drive the truck anywhere—just put 1000 miles on going up to lake Superior & did not add any antifreeze during the trip.
