Vehicle Detail
I originally bought this bike with the intention of doing a full restore on it. This elsi was the proverbial 'barn' find. It came straight from the farm where it had been the kids' pasture bike. The dad continued to do a regular maintenance program on it even tho the kids lost interest in dirt bikes, and he eventually got tired of doing it, so he offered to sell the bike to me. It ran so good, shifted so smooth and had such good power that I went ahead and raced it in vintage MX once. I just didn't have enough time and there weren't races close enough to me, so I prepared for the restore project. Since then, I bought a business and I REALLY don't have time ... or space to do another project bike. So I'm selling my elsi. This is the fourth out of 7 bikes (maybe I can keep 3?) to go. This CR250R comes with the original owners manual and a clymer manual as well. The only thing I've done since buying this bike was to remove the kick stand to race the bike but it will be provided to the buyer. It needs the front number plate, left side cover (the one that's on it isn't a '79) and seat cover. The kids that rode this before I bought it did a rattle can paint job on it and the aluminum tank is 'knee' dented. I figured I need to powdercoat/repaint everything anyway to get it back to pristine condition so I really didn't care. This bike is the perfect restore candidate because it's nearly all there and totally stock ... or you can race it as is. I have NOT taken this bike apart. It is pretty much how I found it. She runs strong, starts easily, has good compression, crisp throttle response and the suspension seems fine. No leaks from engine , shocks or forks. The elsi sat in my garage for nearly 2 years collecting dust. I rescued it a week ago, put fresh pre mix in it and it started on the 2nd kick. She still idles and runs as smooth as silk. I love this bike and I hate to see her go but I'd rather see her raced or restored than to allow it to just deteriorate in my garage. My beloved elsi is 34 years old as of August, needless to say she is being sold as-is with no implied warranty. I will assist with shipping as much as I can. I could also meet the successful buyer within 100 miles from Branson Missouri if need be. Please feel free to email me with any questions or photo requests.
