My wife is the original owner of this car, bought in August 1998; it has served us quite well. With two little kids and too much stuff, we needed to move on to a bigger vehicle. Let's get the negatives out of the way right away: it has not been garaged and the sun has been rough on the exterior, especially the roof. It has an ugly but functional steel patch on the left front side when my wife had a "pregnant moment" 3 years ago and banged it on a concrete pillar backing out of parking garage space (I replaced the headlight which was also crushed). It has various stains on the interior and the driver sun visor foam is disintegrating so it has a little cover over it. The cruise control is an aftermarket addition and works perfectly, but you shouldn't step on the clutch while in use or else it will rev the engine (touch the brake to disengage it as you normally would for any other cruise control). There are no power locks or windows (but they all work fine). A few tiny chips have been in the windshield for several years and none have changed size. The positives: this is a solid, completely reliable car that runs well and gets 35 mpg around town and 40+ mpg on highway trips. It has no leaks of oil or anything else. The AC and heat work perfectly. This car has been well-maintained, no smokers have ever been in this car, and we have all paperwork for repairs and inspections. It has passed Maryland emissions testing which is valid through April 24, 2013. Four new tires were installed at 183k (from Sears, still under warranty). Exhaust system was replaced and brake work was done at 204k. All new belts, including timing belt, and a new water pump were installed at 208k. The title is clear and on hand. We have the original owner's manual. This is the trouble-free, no-frills, sensible car you've been looking for!
