Vehicle Detail
Just had a baby daughter and need to unload a lot of my toys (trust me, I did the math and I can't currently afford a divorce lawyer). I really don't want to sell the truck but am tired of catching crap from the missus about not having a safe car to drive my daughter around in and she won't approve me wearing one of those stupid harnesses that attaches the baby to your front while on my motorcycle. So I am selling my 1958 Chevy side step long box pickup. This is the rare 3200 model which is similar to the normal 1/2 tons but this one has the 8 foot bed. Kind of a cool truck. It has a three speed on the column and shifts fine. You need to get used to finding first but no issues beyond that. I bought it in May of 2011 and just put it in storage as I worked on other projects. Drove it up from Pittsburgh to Cleveland. I put in a new fuel pump, Distributor cap, rotor, condenser and then rebuilt the carb with a factory carb kit. Haven't started it in a while but went out, reconnected the battery, threw a little starter fluid in the carb and it fired right up. Took it down the road and back and it ran fine. NOTE: The odometer reading is NOT accurate. It stopped working prior to me getting it. I bought this from the second owner. The original owners had a camper on top and didn't use it very much. He got a reissued Pennsylvania Title on the truck when the couple died and he acquired it from the next of kin. The second owner used it for a good while but then had a tree fall across the bed so he wanted to sell it. I pulled off the rear passenger fender and hammered out the dents and then straightened the bed railing so that it doesn't look that bad. Up close you can see the remnants of where the tree hit but I got it pretty straight. I am including a photo of what the fender looked like prior to me knocking out the dents. It is a cool truck and always gets thumbs up. the interior is really nice and only one small split on the driver's side of the bench seat. NOTE: THE LAST PHOTO SHOWS THE FENDER DAMAGE WHEN I FIRST GOT THE TRUCK NOT AS IT SITS NOW. AS YOU CAN SEE FROM THE OTHER PHOTOS, I REPAIRED THE DENTS AS DESCRIBED. Included with the auction is the original owners manual and an original 1958 Chevrolet Truck Shop Manual. Also, a mouse moved into the glove box for the winter so I bought a new glove box that replaces the old one as the mouse was a poor tenant. Please write with any questions and I will do my best to answer. Also, if you want, swing by and you can take it for a drive. Cheers. and good luck on the auction. On Oct-05-12 at 11:34:01 PDT, seller added the following information: I took photos of the bed but I can't seem to load them to the auction as Ebay allows only 24 photos. I can't for some reason delete any of the other photos so if you want me to send you an email with the bed photo, drop me an email. I am getting a TON of emails about the truck so it may take a little bit for me to respond back but I will. Also, I am in the process of getting the title in my name so I can sign it over to the new proud owner and that will be done by Tuesday morning (need a notary). I won't ask anyone to pay a penny until I have the title all cleared and ready to go. That is only fair and I want to keep my perfect feedback. Cheers.
