BMW SideCar ROLLING CHASSISUp for sale is a BMW R90/6 with a Spirit Eagle (?) Sidecar ROLLING CHASSIS Engine KAPUT! Catastrophic oil loss. DOES NOT RUN.Please note this machine has Euro bars, and a leather covered board as saddle. This allows you to throw your ass left or right PDQ at high speed. I.E. 35mph corner = 50+ mph corner . Sidecar comes up, you can push/hold it down with your rt foot. More Mad Max than BMW. Run with a 25# ballast in sidecar w/o monkey ( passenger) , also use automotive battery behind sidecar seat. Sidecar has shock, and light which is nice for Deer evasion. You can easily put pull back bars and the seat back on and make it Sunday cruiser.THE MAIN PHOTO makes the SC paint look prettier than it actually is, but it is acceptable.**********from email request for info 10/3/2012*********Looked at the port side cylinder and it looks good. Very good actually. The port side head also looks good. we might presume the same for the starboard side Connecting rods turned blue! just a mention: it is my ( limited ) experience with a hack/boxer, that starboard cylinders seems to carry more burden and appear to show wear sooner. Just finished rebuilding another former hack engine, 59 bmw (now solo) and it showed appreciable wear starboard side. As an engineer it defies all logic that the rear tire could inflect a disproportionate load on one cylinder after power takes a half a dozen right turns, yet there were witness marks to testify otherwise. In my opinion a case, crank, rods, rings "might" get you by. I designed and made my own set of main bearing tools for this model and they are better than the BMW tools, as mine havea pilot to prevent anything other than a true concentric press. ( I have engineered aviation turbine tooling ) If you need these we can arrange something. I haev metrology tools as well, and had extremly fine concentricty and endpplay in crank. This was built from parts from the main bearings out and up to losing oil pressur at a high speed was riding and running admirably. It is my hope that the next owner rebuilds and rides this safely and I will help anyway I can.
