Although I have seen these vans for a few years, I have yet to actually spend any time in or up close. I have to say I am very impressed with the product. The Transit Connect is a compact panel van produced by Ford in Europe to replace the Ford Escort and Fiesta based courier vans. Starting in 2010 Ford imported the Connect Van to compete in the light duty commercial truck market. After reading several reviews about the Transit Vans and seeing mixed views I was curious to see which are real concerns and which are unrealistic expectations. All of the reviews had nothing positive to say about the power an acceleration of the Connect Van. After driving it I can see where it will not win any races, but lets face it, do you really want employees in the fastest vehicle on the road? Is it important that a commercial vehicle will lay down a 0-60 or a 1/4 mile time like a Corvette. I am confident the acceleration is sufficient for a vehicle of this size and caliber, the true up side of a smaller 4cylinder motor is an astonishing 22mpg in the city and 25mpg on the highway. And despite the smaller profile of this vehicle, you would be amazed at just how much you can store in the van given the great shelving system and added ladder racks. If I had a plumbing company, alarm system service, and any real service based repair business I would have a fleet of these vehicles. I would almost compare the Transit Connect Vans to a small Mercedes Sprinter Van without the bulk and expensive upkeep and maintenance. This van belonged to a nationally known alarm company since new in the West Texas region. A friend of mine that deals in alot of commercial vehicles purchased this from a local auction. The van had a dented fender and dented door, he replaced the fender and had the door repainted. Carfax shows a collision back in January of 2012 with "Right Side Primarily Damaged". The vehicle was totally drivable however it sat until the lease ended. The vehicle was then repaired and just a few days ago I traded one of my personal toys for the van. I was impressed at just how clean this unit was from front to back. Usually these commercial vehicles have had a much harder life and no where near as nice and clean as this little van. The pickiest of buyer will love everything about this van, it has NOT been smoked in, it has NOT been abused. And the repair is almost un-noticeable.
