Vehicle Detail
I purchased the car locally during a light restoration about four years ago, engine was out of it but fresh rebuilt, we installed the engine, rebuilt starter, alternator, water pump, recently installed a edelbrock carburetor, chrome air cleaner, valve covers. Underneath at that time I replaced the 3 rubber brake hoses (old hoses scare me). A week back I put in Herculiner roll in bedliner, it turned out well but I broke some of the chrome clips around bed and they must be replaced before chrome can be secured back on bed. Car drives well, exhaust has a nice burble to it, not loud, four barrel kicks in well, quiet inside. Steers, stops well, but corners like a boat. Tires are "fair" but not what should be on this car. I have the 2 matching aluminum rims to the back, but are 14" and car handles better with 15s all around. S10 15" rims on front. 15" aluminum mags on back. This car has what appears to be "GM" rust proofing on lower panels, a clear 3-6" spray on bottom side. Last year I drove this car very little, about a tank of gas during the year going to the doctor a few times. Gas mileage seems to be fairly decent for a V8, compared to a truck. Windows are all clear and not cracked. Stereo does not work, needs speedometer cable from cruise control to dash, needs air conditioning pump put on engine and charged, It has not ever left me on the side of the road, nor not started (optima battery) with the electric choke edelbrock carburetor it fires right up easily after sitting weeks. The carb could have been the 500 cfm thou instead of the 600 I purchased. There are probably a few other minor things wrong with the car since it is a 1978 model. There is "no rust through on car anywhere I have seen" top or bottom, there is some stains in the door jambs that need cleaning. It has been parked in the yard here, paint is about a 85% I estimate. It did have a nice shine when I waxed it recently. (as pictures show) About two years ago I put a water temp and oil gauge in the dash. A thicker radiator has been installed (by previous owner) and a flex fan by me to replace the clutch fan. Automatic transmission, stock shift, works well, goes into and down through all the gears just fine, no noises, no noises in engine. All in all this has been a pleasant car to drive and own. I have another truck I am finishing up for myself, Georgia is a insurance state and I can not afford to insure all of the vehicles thou.. Georgia is a "non" title state for older vehicles, pre-87, thou I do have a title for this car it is not in my name. To sell to neighboring title states you "sign over the registration tag receipt" and a notarized bill of sale and through a reciprocation agreement they issue a title in their state. I have had people tell me the tag office "refuses to do it" but it is law and sometimes you have to remind them how to do their job. I don't foresee any problems getting a title for this car in other states. I have sold a few cars and motorcycles all over the country and with the proper papers they do not have any trouble at all getting a title. Mileage on car is incorrect, I am unsure how long the speedometer cable has been broken. Please call during the daytime, not late I go to sleep early. Please, no telemarketers, no scam artists, I will not ship car and hold a check, cash deal at my bank or yours. I am on a GOVT. telemarketer do-not-call list. This is a good El Camino, my not selling it and storing it will not hurt my feelings too bad. I have tried to be honest with a appraisal and good description as much as possible. I am south of Chattanooga Tn About 20 miles, North of Atlanta Ga about 110 miles and about 2 miles off I-75. YOU are welcome to come and inspect this El Camino in person before the auction ends, I looked for a good El Camino for years before I found this one, probably will regret when it is gone. I can make a video "walk around of it" later today. You can call me at 42THREE-30Four-7003 during daylight hours on the east coast, I go to bed early. I put about sixty miles on it yesterday chasing parts for the old GMC. YES.. I know this El Camino is "TOO CHEAP", I got this car at a fair price after it had sit 10 or so years and thought I'd pass it on. Times are tough all over. This is a pre-fuel injection car, no big wiring bundles to go wrong, no plastic all over outside of car, something a fair old school mechanic can keep running "FOREVER" without major hassles I think.. (WHY I bought it originally)
