Vehicle Detail

I'm selling my 1968 BMW, R 60 /2 , It has low miles at 38,515. The bike has a lot of choice bits on it. Headlite mirrors, Bar end turnsignals , Saftey bars , head lite trim, dual Denfield seats , Bubble Saddle bags , stainless exhaust. The large touring tank with interior tool box, and allow rims , just to mention what I can remeber. Take a good loook at the photos and you will probably find more. Its a sweet ride. Its been in my collection and museum for many years . It has won first place trophies and awards at Many shows , including the Gilmore museum, Del Mar Concourse, and Mid Ohio. It ias not perfect , but for an original bike with good road miles it is a real gem. It runs great , has always started easily and idels smoothly. No smoke . The finish is very very nice, It does have a few minor chips , on the back right side of the tank, and above the saddle bag mounts on the rear fender. I assume they are there from owners taking the bags off and on from time to time. But again they don't distarct from the lovely overall condition of the bike. Original bikes are very hard to find anymore and bring the greatest value. This is not just an old ragged BMW that survived. Its on of those well cared for and well preserved machines that has always had a great home. Any questions just ask. Now for some of its interesting history. In the early 90's maybe 1991, My wife and I were visting San Francisco. We were downtown at a side walk cafe , when this bike pulled to the curve and parked in front of us. It was being ridden by a courier delivery rider in his late 20's . If I remeber right he was wearing a belstaff Jacket and a leather over the shoulder courier bag. He ran inside the office building and I imediately went to the bike and looked it over. It was stunning and I fell instantly in love. When he came out , I asked him if he would consider selling it. He laughed , said people ask him that all day every day, but NO! it was not for sale. I gave him my card and told him to give me a call if he ever chaged his mind. I never got that call ! In 1995 , I was still looking for one as nice as this bike and had not found one, but I responded to an ad in the Laguna Beach News . The person was elling their BMW to pay tuition costs. I went to look at the bike and when the young man opened his garage door , there was the bike I had seen in Frisco. I told him my story ans he told me his. He and the courier were room mates , and at some point the courier moved out of town and was unable to take the bike with him. He sold it to his young friend , whith the promise that he would have first shot at buying it back. Later the young man moved to Laguna , needed the money and the original buyer didn't have the money . So I ended up with it. Some things are just meant to be! I have loved this bike every day I have owned it, when other machines wouldn't start, had a bad mag , or a dead battery , I could always count on this one to start on two kicks and run like a top. Even when it sat for months , Never a balk. Its a great bike and it will turn heads where ever it is seen. Reserve is low, I'm getting old and its time for a new owner to enjoy this one. Deposit via Pay -Pal, $500. Full payment via pay-pal, wire transfer, bank money order , or cash. You are buying what you see. I expect timely payment . I can work with you on pick up or load it on your carrier. No buy it now , because I don't know what its worth. There are lots of R 60's out there , but few with the character or class of this one and in such nice shape. Good Luck Bidding ! Please give this bike a great home , my wife and I will miss this old stalion. Bike is located at my Museum in Oscoda Michigan 48750On Sep-25-12 at 04:45:37 PDT, seller added the following information: Forgot to mention it has a non matchng Motor # ? Don't know if this could of come from the Factory or Not? I don't know that much about BMW's #'bering system. Neither I or the previous owner knew any thing about a Motor switch. So if it has been changed, it was done many years ago? , it has Earl's leading link forks and is a USA model, which in 1968 could come with either Earl's or Telescopic forks. Hope this helps . Good luck bidding
