‘66 Pontiac Grand Prix Highly Optioned Original This is an incredible car. It hails from Southern California and was sold new at Suburban Pontiac in Bellflower. It was in a large collection for several years until my purchase in 2009 when it came to Texas. It has 81,xxx actual miles. This is not documented, but the car itself is all the proof that is needed. With the exception of one repaint, it is an original and unrestored car. There is plenty of provenance with this car. All cosmetic work performed was done in such a manner as to retain the originality to the highest degree possible. Documents It comes with the original warranty booklet and protectoplate therein. It also comes with the original owner’s manual and dealer license frames. Equipment -389 V-8 Motor with 4 barrel carburetor (original). -Turbo 400 Transmission (original) -Factory Air Conditioning -AM Radio -Tilt Steering Wheel -Bucket Seats -Center Console -Power Windows -Power Steering -Power Brakes -Power Antenna -8 Lug Wheels -Dual Exhaust -Tinted Glass Mechanical Condition Motor The motor runs smooth and strong, starts right up every time, burns nor leaks oil. It just completed a 300 miles trip 3 weeks ago. The engine compartment was very nicely and correctly detailed. It still has the working California emissions. The engine compartment decals are all original including the air cleaner. Transmission Excellent! Shifts smooth and sure every time. Air Conditioning It holds a charge and good pressure as well. The expansion valve needs to be replaced in order to blow cold inside the car. My mechanic is confident that this is the issue. It’s had pressure on the system since I have had the car. I did have the dryer replace and the system oil charged. We know this is a minor issue and that valve might loosen up yet on its own. Brakes Excellent! Suspension Excellent! Tires Excellent! New P-225-70-14 Hankook radials 400 miles ago. Exhaust Excellent! All other aspects of the mechanical condition of the car are excellent. It is a (drive anywhere) kind of car in my experience and opinion. It has been incredibly well maintained. Paint Excellent! (Any black spots seen on the paint are love bugs)! The car had the original paint until 5 months ago. It had never been wrecked, had any rust or even touched up anywhere. It was 100% original. Just a good clean rust free California-Texas car. I had it repainted in the original Fontaine Blue with PPG Base Coat/Clear Coat. At the time the car was painted, the bright work was all removed. When the rocker panel trim was removed, there was no dirt under it and the paint there was like new. The car color was matched to them. Body Excellent! The body, floors, rockers, doors fenders, quarters, top, trunk lid and trunk floor have no rust at all. The underside of the car has been thoroughly cleaned and detailed. See the photos below in the Ebay photo viewer. Chrome and Stainless Excellent! These are all original with very minor aging at all. The rear bumper shows a little heat wear from the dual tail pipes. All bright work looks really nice. Glass Excellent! Interior Excellent! The interior is original to the car and is in mint condition, really nice, in fact amazingly so. The door panels, carpet, dash seats, rear side panels, package tray, headliner are excellent. The Lucite steering wheel is beautiful with no clouding with only one inconsequential crack on the right hand grip. Skirts I removed the fender skirts in favor of stainless. The original skirts are excellent and were painted with the car. The do come with the car with the mounts if you prefer to have them. Summary As stated above, this is a wonderful car. It is very dependable and a pleasure to own and drive. I do not believe that a decision to buy this car will be a regrettable one. It has been a great experience for me. It’s just one of those really great 60’s cars like we used to find in the 80’s and just don’t see anymore. View the car in person You are absolutely welcome to come and see it. On Sep-24-12 at 08:09:37 PDT, seller added the following information: A question has been raised about the floor pans and the appearance of bubbling under the red oxide paint. The car was lightly undercoated when new. When the underside was pressure washed, most of it was removed. There is still a remnant and I elected to leave it. I have seen the bare floor and trunk pans. There is no rust on the underside of this car. It is very solid, just as it appears in the photos.
