Vehicle Detail
Own a nicely equipped and very clean 1997 Mercedes SL 500 convertible which has been very well maintained and is in very good shape for a 1997 model. It is the very desirable "Champagne"/Tan combination (actually the exterior color is called Smoke Silver) and the paint is original and in excellent shape. Included is a Hard Top which is also in good shape with only a couple of minor paint dings on the edge which is from movement to and from storage. The interior is in very good condition as reflected in the pictures, with no significant spots, no cuts or other notable wear evident. The odometer reads 112,800 miles reflecting relatively light usage over the years (just about 7000 miles per year). The soft top is in good shape (see pictures) and raises and lowers properly. A garage floor check shows no fluid leaks. The tires are new. The drive-train seem to be in great shape and the car drives well, however, I think installing new rear shocks will improve the ride. The standard SL 500 comes very well equipped with nice things like a Bose sound system, driver and passenger memory power seats, side airbags, a 4 speed automatic transmission with both winter and summer settings and all sorts of other safety and performance stuff. The A/C blows cold and most of the things that didn't function when I purchased the car have since been fixed. The radio antenna does not automatically raise and lower properly, but it can easily be raised and lowered by hand. The car comes with one working key-fob and one that doesn't work (It's more than just changing the battery). Also the driver side mirror has been replaced with a manual adjust, rather than a remote adjust mirror. If you are not that familiar with this beautiful classic, you might want to check out the Ken Rockwell website. This car, while nice, is not pristine like the Rockwell car. While on the Internet, you can also confirm the Kelly Blue Book (kbb) value of this car, in this condition at $8,500. As with all of my auctions please note that although I try to represent the item as accurately as possible, this auction ultimately comes down to an "as is, where is" transaction with the buyer responsible for shipping. Please email me with questions or give me a call at 321-412-1458. If I can't take the call, I'll try to get back to you as soon as possible.
