Vehicle Detail
This is your opportunity to takeover ownership a fantastic project car: The most accurate to movie exterior Bluesmobile replica in North America! With the cooler months approaching, now is the time to get started prepping this car for next summer's show and parade season. Most of the project under my direction has been on the exterior (the only part 99.99% of folks have any knowledge of). I am an absolute perfectionist when it comes to detailed work, and if there's something awry in the photos you see below that doesn't match the movie, I'd like to know about it. Actually, there are two things inaccurate about this exterior, 1) I didn't hit the front lower fender with the "red rust" color like in the movie. 2) I didn't replace the radio antenna with a coat-hanger (I like listening to the radio). The black and white paint is gloss finish and kept dirty all the time. As an additional rarity, this car has been garaged its entire life and only has 72400 actual miles on it. This car was nearly rust-free when I purchased it in 2009, and since then I've repaired all of the exterior rust (just a little behind the wheel wells). There is a bit of leftover rust and rust residue in the right side of the trunk interior. If you can find an unrestored Chrysler that has this little rust after 4 decades, I'd like to see it! Over 425 photos of this vehicle documenting my 3 years of project ownership in the Bluesmobile Photo Library (If there are specific pictures or video you need to see to make a purchase decision, please send a message and I will add them to the Google folder or post a youtube link at the bottom of this auction) Video detailing the customizations on this vehicle, a 0-60 demonstration with and without the siren on top, and a fast motion video removing the siren and storing it out of the way in the garage Features Great engine, no issues Tires have 9k miles (full spare has 0 miles) Air Conditioning (works well) Green cloth interior with factory plastic still on. Cruise Control (works well) New gaskets in all windows Secret Audio premium sound with new 6x9 rear speakers Movie spec pushbar Movie spec police light (needs electrical repair) Siren on top based on movie (re-engineered for interstate speeds) 360ci small block engine True to the movie, the cigarette lighter does not work (fixable) Purchase also includes (if buyer wants) PDFs of both original service manual books Block and tackle system to hoist the siren pieces out of the way The original leather roof material Hood insulation lining All of the trim pieces that were removed The bumperettes and "custom" badge A box containing (see picture) lots of spare parts Receipts for special parts purchased An aftermarket book guide to the vehicle Known deficiencies: The original plastic is worn through and there here is a tear in the driver seat cloth. Rear bench seat is not bolted down on the left side Crack in the upper left corner of the windshield (see picture) TODOs for the next project manager of this car Reupholster the interior with beige leather (see example in photo library) Install 8-track in dash Fix electrical issue in spotlight Clock (broken) can be replaced with the police temperature gauge Speedometer could be replaced with a 140mph version Connect period police amp with microphone to the siren amplifier Install 440ci big block engine (requires more gas and can overheat) Brief history of this car (all documented in the photo library below). 1974-2007: owned by a little old lady that only drove to the grocery store once a week and kept it garaged Converted A/C to newer R-134A refrigerant 2007-2009: owned by a teenager as his first car, always kept it garaged. Put aftermarket chrome wheels on it 2009: Purchased by me Replaced chrome wheels with stock Chrysler wheels 2010: Conversion Rebuilt front suspension as a learning exercise. Replaced rubber components with polyurethane for better handling Fixed all rust along behind each wheel well Removed leather top Repainted car black and white Painted Blues Brothers decals Installed pushbar on the front bumper (pushbar was fabricated in a shop according to movie specs) Installed police spotlight on the driver door Installed Secret Audio hidden sound system, new 6x9 speakers in the back 2011: Rooftop Siren Built siren Installed marine grade speakers on the sired connected to an amp under the passenger seat Installed rope system 2012: Storage system Block and tackle system to store the siren and its base out of the way VIN: DH41K4D252795
