Vehicle Detail
Up for auction is my beautiful 1992 Classic Range Rover. This is the "County" so it has the nicer factory radio, and map lights and such. A few months ago I was looking for a project, and I am a responsible four wheel drive enthusiast, so I purchased this Range Rover. Since then my wife and I have had a baby, so my spare time to tinker with the rover, and take her on excursions has all but disappeared. Rather then let her sit in the garage she is up for sale here. She is a 1992, she spent the first 12 years of her life in California. Then she was shipped to Manchester NH, and was owned by a man who planned to take her overseas to his home country, however he decided to remain in the United States, so the Rover stayed in his garage for years. Then earlier this year I purchased her from him. It was not far from me, but because she sat for so long I trailered her to her new home, then changed the oil, drained the front swivel ball housings, put in land rover swivel ball housing grease, and inspected and repacked all of the axle bearings. Then she was sent to a mechanic for a general tune up and replacement of fluids. The good -She runs well, pulls strong, has no trouble getting on the highway, cruises all day long, and runs nice and cool even while idling down trails. -The interior is in very good conditions the carpets have a fair amount of wear, but they are 20 years old. The leather looks great, it's hard to believe it's 20 years old. -The body looks good, some minor dents and dings here and there, but overall the body looks great. The paint however has lost it's luster, it doesn't look bad, but it's not shiny, it also has some scratches from day to day use, as well as some encounters with brush. -She drives fantastic, rides smooth even over rough terrain, and the original suspension is fantastic off road, but that is what these were designed for. I was planning on lifting this over winter, so I do have longer springs and an adjustable panhard rod, they will be included, however they are not installed. -New brakes (Rotors & pads, and right hand front caliper, and brake lines in the rear) -New fuel pump -New fog lamps -New transmission cooler, and transmission lines -Radio works, sounds good, and you will get the radio code needed if the battery is disconnected. -Undercarriage has some rust, but nothing rotted through, or even close, it looks really good. This rover did spend the first 12 years in California. -She has been converted to 24 spline axle shafts The bad-The drivers seat no longer moves forward, so it's all the way back, all other seat motions work just fine. I am tall and wish it went back a little further, so it's good for anyone medium to tall. Sorry short people! -One of the rear windows will not go up or down, all the others and the sunroof work fine -The tailgate, and rear hatch are rusting, the tailgate looks fine, but the rear hatch no longer latches closed, it will stay closed, but it does not latch, and therefore does not lock -No keyless entry, when I purchased her I was only given a key, nothing else. I always left her unlocked but the locks do work with the key. -She has an exhaust leak, and the exhaust rattles a bit, nothing major though. -The tires have plenty of tread left, but the sidewalls have some cracking, these tires sat for a while though. I was going to replace them over winter when I was planning on doing the lift, I don't have time for that now though. I do not recommend driving her long distances with the tires in this shape, she should be shipped, trailered, towed, or be driven with extreme caution. That being said, I drove her 220 miles last weekend without issue. -Heat and AC, both don't work, the heater seems to work, but the heater blower does not, and the AC blower works, and the compressor seems to engage, but no cold air comes out. The Range Rover is located in Lowell Massachusetts, anyone in this region is welcome to check her out. She is registered and insured, and I will work with anyone to help get her loaded up or delivered or whatever. I am pretty easy going and will do whatever I can to help get her to her new home. Please don't hesitate to ask any questions. On Sep-17-12 at 18:19:48 PDT, seller added the following information: I don't remember if I mentioned this or not, but the headliner is sagging in the back, it's pretty common on all of these, and the doors on he drivers side were defiantly once red. I found no evidence of an accident in the auto check though. This is detailed in some of the photos.
