Up for auction is a 1999 VW Beetle, with only 71,000 miles. vehicle needs some work, or use as a parts car. The check engine light is on, we thought the oxygen sensor was bad, turns out our mechanic thinks there is a problem in the wiring connections, in the box near the battery. Car runs and drives, but bogs down sometimes, because it pumps too much fuel sometimes. My mechanic had the car for three weeks, and didnt really have time to fix it. He did some re-wiring in that area, and was able to get the ABS light to shut off, and got the power locks to work (problems all started at the same time) This car is R-title, it was a recovered theft. Car has always been well maintained, has less then 10k miles on the tires, after market wheels were put on this spring, has a JVC cd player, also comes with the factory steel wheels, and hub caps. Recent tune up; plugs, wires, air filter, 30 miles on oil change. Body is in pretty good shape, only rust I noticed was one spot on the hood were the paint chipped. Has some scratches and dings. Roof needs to be repainted. Had a dent in it when it was r titled, dent was fixed,roof was repainted (7 years ago) clear coat failed, needs to be sanded and repainted. Interior could use a good cleaning, and the driver seat has one small burn hole. Selling this car because it was our back up vehicle, don't really need it anymore, and don't have time to fix it. Has been a very reliable car. Please see all photos and ask all questions. And remember that this car is 13 years old, and is far from being a show car. Air conditioning was re-charged this summer and works well. A few people have asked me if they would be able to drive the car home if they win the auction. I would not be affraid to drive this car anywhere, but would suggest getting it fixed, soon after getting it home.
