Vehicle Detail
Up for sale is a 1982 VW Quantum Coupe. Volkswagen imported less than 2,000 of these cars to the United States - so this is a rare car! It has a 1.7l CIS fuel injected 4 cylinder engine, and runs great! Has a 5 speed manual transmission that shifts well and has a good clutch with a new clutch cable. Car runs and drives great, I've driven it about 800 miles in the past six months. It has several quirks, but is a great running, very rare car. Here's the good and bad: Good -Transmission shifts great, new clutch cable -Engine runs great, no problems -New alternator -New ignition switch with 2 keys -Newly painted rear louvers -New fuel lines -Fixed light switch Bad -Rear brakes are not connected -Fuel pump is ziptied onto parking brake cable, it works fine but the bracket broke off -Dash is not in perfect condition, see pics for details -Radio doesn't work -Parking brake not connected -Passenger seat needs some more foam stuffed into it -HVAC controls are difficult to use -Tachometer sometimes doesn't work great The bad category may seem a bit long, but again it RUNS and DRIVES great. I've driven it with the rear brakes disconnected as long as I've had it, since the previous owner disconnected them. It stops, it just gets a little scary when someone cuts you off. I use a combination of downshifting while braking to stop more efficiently. The interior is in surprisingly good condition for a 30 year old car. As the pictures show, the seats aren't very worn and it is generally quite clean; I disassembled most of it to clean it before I entered the car in Waterfest. If you know what a quantum coupe is, you know how rare these cars are. This car was entered in Waterfest this year, which is a large VW/Audi show, and it was the only quantum, let alone quantum coupe, at the show. You may drive the car away, but AT YOUR OWN RISK. Like I mentioned, I have driven this car many places but I recognize that the brakes aren't very good, and it can get you into some trouble. Everything else necessary for the car to be on the road works; lights, turn signals, wipers, all that. If you'd like to take a look at the car and test drive, email me at: delorean_mac@yahoo.com or call or text 973-580-5283 Car is located in New Jersey. Shipping or towing costs are on the buyer. Thanks, and happy bidding!
