1969 Black Mercedes Benz 280SE 4 Door sedan INTRODUCTION: I have owned my beautiful and beloved, original California, unrestored, rare black 1969 Mercedes Benz 280SE 6 cylinder sedan since 2/2001. When I bought the car it had 95,425 miles on it. It now has 121,790. It has been garaged, babied, very loved and cared for here in beautiful and dry Palm Springs, California for the past 11+ years. It is driven almost daily, however, it is not driven in the rain or harsh winds. This stunning original California car continues to draw admiring compliments and always gets noticed because of its beautiful, award-winning classic styling, rare black color and good original condition. Although not a prefect car, it is a great original rare black California car that runs great, is reliable, and is a pleasure to own. I have all repair receipts since I have owned the car. All servicing has been done by certified Mercedes mechanics. This car is exempt from California smog-testing due to its age. Mercedes Benz USA Classic Center has supplied the following information: Chassis number: 10801812013242 Engine number: 13098012009470 Transmission number: 018634 Front axle number,l:288 Front axle number,r:278 Steering box number:128866 ENGINE/TRANSMISSION/ELECTRICAL EXHAUST/TIRES/BRAKES/STEERING SYSTEMS: The original 2.8L M130 (13098012009470) 6 cylinder, fuel injected, gasoline engine runs well, runs cool, does not leak and starts every time. The car has 121,790 miles. 11+ years worth of repair receipts, some of which includes: 5/4/2010 @114,065 ($2,053.56) - New head gasket set, head bolt, valve stem seal kit, hose clamps, spark plugs, coolant, valve cover gasket, oil filter kit, engine oil, thermostat, transmission filter kit and fluid. 4/17/2012 @120,338 ($240.48)- "C" service - oil, filter, lube, new shifter bushing. 6/14/2012 @121,068($652.47) - Rebuilt Bosch alternator and regulator, new brake fluid level senders. New battery. The transmission was serviced recently and regularly and works well. The brakes were recently serviced and work well. The exhaust system is in good condition and has chromed tipped exhausts. All gauges work. The turn signals work. All lights work. The wipers work. The horn works. This is a non-smoking car, however,the cigarette lighter works. Steering is tight and responsive. The tires are 85,000 mile rated Pirelli P4's with only 7,000 miles on them. The Bilstien shocks are in good condition. All glass is original with no cracks. I have the original owners manual. BODY/PAINT/CHROME/TRUNK/INTERIOR: This is an original black paint (040) car with most of its original paint (front left fender and left rear quarter panel repainted at some point). The car's paint is in decent shape for its age and still shines, with the expected pits, nicks,etc. The car could use a repaint but is still decent. No rust. Body panels are straight. It has the original cognac(140) MB-Tex interior that is in good condition with no rips or tear's.The seats are firm and supportive including the rear seat. The door panels are all in good condition. There is a set of sheepskin seat covers for the front seats that go with the sale of the car. The chrome is all there and in good condition. The wood trim is all in place but needs restoring. I also have a set of window-wood replacements to go with the car. The dash board is in good condition and comes with a custom dash cover. The door panels are all in very good condition with no rips or tear's. The headliner is in good condition with no rips or tear's. The carpeting is original and in good condition with no rips or tear's. The rubber heal guard on the drivers side has deteriorated, as most do. There are a set of Mercedes floor mats that go with the car. There is also a roll of correct carpeting that goes with the car. Trunk is in good condition. I have some of the original tools of the tool kit. It has the original, single speaker, Becker AM/FM radio which works. ISSUES: There is a small ding on the left side of the rear bumper(see pic), however, I have a good replacement bumper to go with the sale of the car. The left rear quarter panel had some work done prior to my purchase of the vehicle (see pic). I can not get it to show in the picture very well. There is a slight scratch on the right rear quarter panel (see pic),again, I can not get it to show in the picture very well. There is a scrape under the right front drivers door on the rocker panel that can be seen in the picture. All power windows work except for the rear left window, which works, and moves up but does not move all the way up on its own. The air conditioning does not work, however, all components are in place (needs new compressor and system retro fit). The heater switches are brittle and need replacing. All the wood trim is in place but needs refinishing. I have a set of wood trim for around the windows that goes with the sale of the car.
