Vehicle Detail
Here is a very nice, mostly restored, 1981 Ford Thunderbird, in Fawn beige with beige interior with the 302 (5.0) and automatic transmission. We are selling this on behalf of the owner, Joe. Joe bought the car and was restoring it for one of his grandsons, until the grandson got himself in a heap of trouble and Joe decided that "he can walk till he's 35", so the car is now available to its next owner. Since he was restoring the car for his grandson, no expense has been spared in the work that has been done. The car has power windows, manual adjust outside mirrors with the remote actuation for the passenger side that is moved from the driver's position. It has functioning air conditioning and cruise control, along with the factory AM/FM stereo, and power steering and power brakes. The hidden headlights work fine, but after the car has been off for a few days they open, so there is apparently a small vacuum leak somewhere. It is a Western car, so no rust anywhere on it. The seats are in good condition, but do show sun-fade. The vinyl landau roof shows some cracking, as seen in the photos, however, there is no peeling of the vinyl - it is still sound. The vehicle has been completely repainted with a high-quality paint job, and as you can see from the photos, the body is nice and straight. There are just a couple of minor issues with the paint, as noted in the photos. The car drives straight and nice, and so far as we know everything works as it should except for the couple of things noted in this description. To complete the restoration, the vehicle needs the front side marker reflectors, the headlight cover trim, and the bumper trim both front and rear. It is also missing one wheel cover, and the steering wheel has cracks as is common in that vintage of vehicle. The door lock on the driver's side does not function from the inside, but the door locks and unlocks fine with the key. The engine runs good sometimes and rough other times - its been mostly sitting for the past couple of years, so it may just be old gas or it may need a tune-up. The engine compartment needs a detailing as it has a lot of dust from the painting process. The transmission engages smoothly and shifts properly, although I have not driven it at highway speed. Overall, this is a very nice "square-bird" T-Bird, with excellent new paint that drives well. The hard and expensive part of the restoration has been done, and you can pick it up for a small fraction of the amount Joe has invested in it. It would be a nice driver as is, or with a little more work, it can be virtually like new. Feel free to message us with any questions and we can get the answers for you or have you talk with the current owner to ensure that you know exactly what you are bidding on. We have described the car as carefully and accurately as possible, and identified all the faults of which we know. The car is being sold as is, with no warranty express or implied.
