NO RESERVE AUCTION !! I AM SELLING MY 1931 FORD MODEL A TUDOR. THIS MODEL A IS VERY COMFORTABLE AND EASY TO DRIVE. THIS MODEL A IS WELL SORTED OUT AND WAS BUILT WITH BASICALLY ALL NEW PARTS AND THEREFORE IS EXTREMELY RELIABLE, STARTS INSTANTLY, DRIVES, STEERS AND SHIFTS VERY SMOOTHLY LIKE A MORE MODERN CAR AND CAN BE DRIVEN ANYWHERE AND ANY DISTANCE AT HIGHWAY SPEED. MY GOAL IN BUILDING THIS CAR WAS NOT TO HAVE A GO-FAST HOT ROD (I HAVE A COUPLE OF THOSE), BUT RATHER TO HAVE A TOTALLY RELIABLE CAR THAT HANDLED MORE LIKE A MODERN CAR, HAD THE CREATURE COMFORTS OF A MODERN CAR AND ONLY NEEDED THE NORMAL MAINTENANCE THAT ANY NEW CAR WOULD NEED. I NEVER PLANNED ON SELLING THIS CAR AND THEREFORE PUT AN INORDINATE AMOUNT OF TIME AND MONEY IN BUILDING IT. UNFORTUNATELY I AM NOW HAVING SERIOUS HEALTH ISSUES AND MUST SELL THE CAR, I HAVE TOO MANY CARS. I PLANNED THIS CAR LONG BEFORE I STARTED BUILDING IT, MAKING DECISIONS ON ENGINE, DRIVE LINE, SUSPENSION, STEERING, BRAKES, COOLING, AND ALL OTHER MAJOR OPERATING SYSTEMS OF THE CAR. I THEN BOUGHT A COMPLETE RUNNING MODEL A THAT HAD HAD A FRAME UP RESTORATION INCLUDING NEW PAINT, NEW ROOF, NEW INTERIOR, REBUILT ENGINE, ETC. I THEN TOTALLY DISMANTLED THE CAR AND SOLD ALL THE PARTS THAT I WAS NOT GOING TO USE AND STARTED CONSTRUCTION OF THE NEW CAR. MOST OF THE WORK WAS DONE BY ME AND IT WAS A VERY ENJOYABLE EXPERIENCE. I HAVE BEEN WORKING ON CARS, RACING CARS, RESTORING CARS AND BUILDING CARS FOR MORE THAN 55 YEARS. MY SON, WHO IS A CERTIFIED WELDER WITH MORE THAN 25 YEARS OF WELDING AND METAL FABRICATING EXPERIENCE HELPED ME WITH SOME OF THE WORK. QUALITY OF PARTS I USED ONLY NEW PARTS WHENEVER POSSIBLE, ANYTHING USED WAS REBUILT, I ONLY USED STAINLESS STEEL OR GRADE 8 FASTENERS, PRECISION STEEL TEFLON LINED HIEM JOINTS, POLISHED OR CHROME PARTS, ETC, ETC. LIGHT WEIGHT I MADE EVERY EFFORT TO KEEP THE CAR AS LIGHT AS POSSIBLE. I USED ALUMINUM WHENEVER I COULD AND EVEN MADE SURE THE BOLTS WERE ONLY LONG ENOUGH TO HOLD THE NUTS AND WASHERS. THE 3.4 V6 ENGINE, LIGHT FLYWHEEL, ALUMINUM BELLHOUSING AND ALUMINUM TRANSMISSION WEIGH ABOUT 325 POUNDS LESS THAN THE COMPARABLE STOCK MODEL A PARTS. I WILL BRIEFLY DESCRIBE ALL OF THE MAIN OPERATING SYSTEMS AND FEATURES OF THE CAR. ENGINE I DECIDED ON THE 3.4 CHEVY 60 DEGREE V6 MADE BY GM PERFORMANCE PARTS BECAUSE IT IS WAS AN ALL NEW COMPLETE HIGH PERFORMANCE ENGINE WITH A 24 MONTH, 24,000 MILE WARRANTY. THIS ENGINE IS VERY LIGHT AND HAS AN EXCELLENT POWER TO WEIGHT RATIO. I ADDED A TORKER TYPE CAM. ALL ENGINE PARTS WERE NEW, EDELBROCK TORKER INTAKE, EDELBROCK 500 CFM CARB, NEW STARTER, WATER PUMP, HEI DISTRIBUTOR, FORD CHROME 140 AMP ALTERNATOR, POLISHED A/C COMPRESSOR, POLISHED PULLEYS, POLISHED AIR CLEANER, HEDMAN HEADERS, POLISHED STAINLESS MUFFLERS; ETC, ETC. ENGINE AND TRANSMISSION HAVE A FIVE POINT MOUNTING SYSTEM THAT SPREADS OUT THE WEIGHT. I ESTIMATE THE ENGINE PUTS OUT 230-250 HP WHICH IS A LOT FOR A 2,100 POUND CAR. DRIVE LINE I USED A NEW FLYWHEEL, CLUTCH AND PRESSURE PLATE. THE S10 BELLHOUSING WAS THROUGHLY CLEANED AND INSPECTED, THE S10 FIVE SPEED TRANSMISSION WAS REBUILT, HAS A NEW G5 SHORT THROW SHIFTER AND SHIFTS SMOOTH AS SILK. A NEW BALANCED DRIVE SHAFT WAS MADE WITH NEW YOKES AND U-JOINTS. THE STOCK REAR END WAS CONVERTED TO OPEN DRIVE WITH A NEW KIT MADE BY HOT ROD WORKS. I PUT THE CLUTCH AND BRAKE PEDALS IN THE STOCK MODEL A LOCATION AND I FABRICATED LINKAGE WHICH WORKS SMOOTHLY WITH LOW PEDAL EFFORT. SUSPENSION I USED NEW POSIES SUPER SLIDE SPRINGS WITH MODERN NEW CHROME TUBE SHOCKS FRONT AND REAR. I BUILT A FOUR LINK SYSTEM TO KEEP THE REAR END LOCATED SO IT CAN ONLY MOVE UP AND DOWN WITH NO SIDEWAYS MOTION. THIS SYSTEM STOPS THE EXTREME LEAN IN CORNERS THAT ALL TRANSVERSE SPRING CARS USUALLY HAVE. I USED SWEDGED ALUMINUM FOR THE FOUR BARS THAT ARE VERY LIGHT BUT VERY STRONG. IN THE FRONT I USED THE STOCK MODEL A AXLE WITH A SWEDGED ALUMINUM BAR FOR A TIE ROD. OF COURSE ALL NEW WHEEL BEARINGS WERE USED THROUGHOUT. STEERING I USED A NEW UNISTEER RACK AND PINION UNIT WHICH HAS A VERY LIGHT STEERING EFFORT. A NEW FLAMING RIVER STAINLESS TILT STEERING COLUMN TOPPED OFF WITH A GRANT MAHOGANY BANJO STEERING WHEEL WITH GOLD ACCENTS. I USED NEW 3/4" DOUBLE D POLISHED STAINLESS STEEL SHAFTING AND POLISHED SS U-JOINTS. BRAKES ALL OF THE BRAKE SYSTEM IS TOTALLY NEW INCLUDING: MASTER CYLINDER; WHEEL CYLINDERS; BRAKE LINES AND RUBBER WHEEL CONNECTORS; SILICON BRAKE FLUID; BACKING PLATES; INTERNAL HARDWARE AND SPRINGS; NEW EMERGENCY BRAKE HANDLE AND CABLES; BONDED BRAKE SHOES; ALL NEW HUBS; MODERN SLIP ON BRAKE DRUMS. NEEDLESS TO SAY THE CAR WILL STOP ON A DIME AND IN A STRAIGHT LINE. WHEELS AND TIRES1935-36 FORD 16' WHEELS, CHECKED FOR STRAIGHTNESS AND RUN OUT, SANDBLASTED, PRIMED AND PAINTED. NEW TUBELESS DIAMONDBACK CLASSIC RADIAL WIDE WHITEWALLS. NEW FORD LOGO POLISHED STAINLESS STEEL HUBCAPS. I HAVE ANOTHER GOOD WHEEL TO USE FOR A SPARE. ENGINE COOLING I USED A NEW WALKER BRASS RADIATOR WITH BUILT IN A/C CONDENSER. THE RADIATOR IS DESIGNED FOR A BIG BLOCK FORD ENGINE AND THEREFORE HAS WAY MORE COOLING CAPACITY THAN THE V6 NEEDS. HAS A CUSTOM MADE POLISHED SHROUD WITH A 2,400 CFM FAN. HAS A 180 DEGREE THERMOSTAT. NEVER RUNS MORE THAN 175 DEGREES EVEN ON 100 DEGREE, 90% HUMIDITY DAYS WITH THE A/C ON. FUEL SYSTEM HAS CUSTOM MADE 12 GAUGE TOP SUCK FUEL TANK THAT HOLDS 12 GALLONS THAT IS MOUNTED IN THE REAR OF THE CAR SIMILAR TO A 32 FORD. HAS AN ELECTRIC FUEL PUMP SET FOR 6 POUNDS OF PRESSURE FOR THE EDELBROCK CARB. WIRING SYSTEMI COMPLETELY REWIRED THE CAR USING AN AMERICAN AUTOWIRE 22 CURCUIT SYSTEM. USES MODERN PUSH IN FUSES AND HAS FLASHERS AND RELAYS FOR THE HORN AND FAN ON THE CIRCUIT BOARD. I TRIED TO HIDE THE WIRING UNDER THE ENGINE AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE FOR A CLEAN LOOK. IS PREWIRED FOR A DOME LIGHT AND ELECTRIC WINDSHIELD WIPER NEITHER OF WHICH I HAVE INSTALLED. A/C, HEAT, DEFROSTI USED A NEW VINTAGE AIR GEN 4 ELECTRONIC UNDER DASH SYSTEM. CONTROLS ARE MOUNTED IN DASH. HAS A NEW POLISHED TUFF STUFF COMPRESSOR WITH AREO BRAIDED STAINLESS STEEL LINES AND FITTINGS. FLOORBOARDS I MADE THE FLOORBOARDS OUT OF 1/8" ALUMINUM SHEETS BONDED WITH HIGH TEMP CONTACT CEMENT TO 1/2'' 9 PLY COMMERCIAL CABINET GRADE POPLAR PLYWOOD FINISHED WITH MAHOGANY STAIN AND POLYURETHANE. THEY ARE IN THE STOCK LOCATIONS AND USE THE STOCK MOUNTING HOLES WITH MARINE GRADE RUBBER GASKETS. THE ALUMINUM IS ON THE BOTTOM AND REFLECTS THE HEAT AND NOISE FROM THE ROAD PLUS KEEPS THE PLYWOOD FROM THE WEATHER. DASHI MADE THE DASH OUT OF A SOLID PIECE OF 1 1/16" THICK MAHOGANY MOUNTED IN A SLANTED POSITION. I MATCHED THE COLOR OF THE DASH TO THE COLOR OF THE STEERING WHEEL. I USED VDO HERITAGE GOLD ALL ELECTRONIC GAUGES. HAS TURN SIGNAL AND HIGH BEAM INDICATORS. SEATS THE FRONT SEATS ARE TAN LEATHER FROM A 2006 SOLARA. ELECTRIC DRIVER SEAT, MANUAL PASSENGER SEAT. PASSENGER SEAT TILTS FORWARD FOR ACCESS TO BACK SEAT. THE BACK SEAT IS STOCK MODEL A. BACK SEAT AREA HAS ANTIQUE CADILLAC ROSEBUD VASES AND A DOILY CROCHETED BY MY MOTHER. INTERIOR THE INTERIOR IS INSULATED WITH TWO LAYERS OF DYNA-MAT ON THE FIREWALL AND THE UPPER AND SIDE COWL AREAS. ALSO I INSTALLED WEATHER STRIPPING AROUND THE DOORS WHICH MODEL A's NEVER HAD ORIGINALLY. THE HEADLINER, DOOR AND SIDE PANELS, WELTING AND WINDLACES ARE ALL LEBARON-BONNEY MATERIAL. HAS ALL NEW WINDOW CRANKS, OUTSIDE AND INSIDE DOOR HANDLES. LIGHTS AND HORNTHE HEAD LIGHTS, COWL LIGHTS, TAIL LIGHTS AND REAR TURN INDICATOR LIGHTS ARE ALL NEW POLISHED STAINLESS STEEL. HEADLIGHTS HAVE TURN SIGNALS IN THEM AND THE COWL LIGHTS HAVE TWO FILAMENT BULBS, ONE OF WHICH ALSO FLASHES WITH THE FRONT TURN SIGNALS. ALL LIGHTS WORK JUST AS THEY SHOULD. HAS NEW CHROME AOOOOGA HORN THAT WORKS FROM THE STEERING WHEEL BUTTON AS IT SHOULD. SUMMARY I HAVE TRIED TO PROVIDE ENOUGH DETAIL TO ANSWER ALL OF YOUR QUESTIONS ALTHOUGH I HAVE PROBABLY FORGOTTEN SOME THINGS. THIS MODEL A IS TOTALLY UNIQUE AND A REAL ATTENTION GETTER. WHERE EVER I GO PEOPLE ARE ALWAYS STOPPING TO LOOK AT IT AND WANTING TO TALK ABOUT IT. THE CAR IS LOTS OF FUN TO DRIVE AND REALLY PREFORMS WELL. THE S10 FIVE SPEED IS A WIDE RATIO TRANSMISSION THAT HAS A 4.06 FIRST GEAR RATIO WHICH, WHEN MULTIPLIED BY THE REAR END RATIO OF 3.78 GIVES FIRST GEAR A TOTAL RATIO OF 15.35 TO 1, WHICH MAKES THE CAR A REAL STOP LIGHT JUMPER. IT KEEPS UP WITH CITY TRAFFIC EASILY. AT THE SAME TIME THE FIFTH GEAR RATIO OF .80 GIVES YOU A TOTAL RATIO OF 3.02 WHICH IS VERY HIGHWAY FRIENDLY. THE ONE THING THAT NEEDS ATTENTION IS THAT WHEN I PUT NEW REAR END PINION BEARINGS IN IT I SET THE PRELOAD TOO TIGHT WHICH MAKES THE REAR END HOWL SOME AT LOWER SPEEDS. THE PINION CAN BE REMOVED FROM THE REAR END TO FIX THIS PROBLEM WITHOUT REMOVING THE REAR END FROM THE CAR. THE AIR CLEANER IN THE PICTURES WAS CAST ALUMINUM AND I DISCOVERED IT IS CRACKED AND CAN NO LONGER BE USED SO I REPLACED IT WITH A MR. GASKET CHROME AIR CLEANER. THE CAR WAS COMPLETED IN SEPT, 2007 AND HAS BEEN STORED IN MY HEATED AND AIR CONDITIONED WORKSHOP. I HAVE PUT ABOUT 1,500 MILES ON THE CAR SINCE COMPLETION. I WILL CONSIDER REASONABLE OFFERS BUT NO LOW BALL OFFERS PLEASE. STOCK VS. HOT ROD LOOKI REALLY LIKE THE WAY THE CAR LOOKS THE WAY IT IS. BUT IF YOU WANT THE STOCK LOOK, I HAVE ALL THE PARTS TO PUT THE APPEARANCE BACK TO STOCK INCLUDING THE FRONT FENDERS AND BRACES, SPLASH APRONS, RUNNING BOARDS AND NEW BRACES, FRONT BUMPER AND BRACKETS, HEADLIGHT BAR AND STOCK HOOD. ALL OF THESE PARTS WERE ON THE CAR WHEN I GOT IT. IF THESE PARTS WERE RE-INSTALLED THE CAR WOULD LOOK TOTALLY STOCK FROM THE OUTSIDE. THESE PARTS ARE INCLUDED WITH THE CAR BUT I DON'T HAVE THE PHYSICAL ABILITY TO INSTALL THEM.
