This is a 1978 Pontiac Firebird Trans Am. This is an original California car with blue and yellow license plates. The car has never been restored and has had only one repaint. This car comes with the factory build sheet that confirms that this is a real Trans Am sold in Sacramento, California. I purchased the car in Sacramento where it has probably been for over 30 years. A scanned picture of the build sheet is in the pictures section. The car still has all of the factory smog equipment and passes California smog(The toughest in the country) with no problems. I believe the engine, transmission, and rear end to be numbers matching because the car has never been restored. The factory 403 Oldsmobile engine runs and idles nicely with no misfiring. The factory TH350 transmission shifts nicely. The car runs, drives and stops great. The car is very reliable and always starts first try. The typical rust areas on this car (fenders, rear , lower parts of the door) are all rust free. The frame rails and trunk have very minor surface rust. The inside of the roof has been painted with black POR-15 to prevent rust. There is no headliner or carpet in the car but it has the original camel tan seats. A new dash cover has been recently installed along with a new floor pan that has been correctly welded in. All the glass is good with no cracks and a spare window is included. The car is registered in California with a clear title. All the factory gauges besides the oil pressure gauge work great. The car drives straight when you let go of the steering wheel and stops without veering. This is a factory A/C car but the compressor has been removed. The car has a factory posi trac rear end and is a factory hardtop. I believe the car has 57,725 original miles but I have no way of confirming. The car also comes with a functional shaker conversion kit that hasn't been installed yet. This would be a great start to a restoration or you could just drive it as is.
