RESTORATION SPECIFICS PURCHASED July 1993Purchased car from original owner, who originally lived in Utah. Car spent early life in Utah, a few years later the owner moved to Colorado. Now the car is only driven on clear days, no winter or foul weather driving. Mileage is assured. Have all records from new. Also includes rare factory flyers & sales info. All factory manuals and documentation included. Also have all the required DOT and State of Colorado paperwork for the updated engine and emissions – the air pump is not required. This car has the later (1981) fuel injection & emission controls. Complete restoration items are numerous and took place over the years of ownership. This was a car that was driven occasionally, but it was driven. The following is a summary of items repaired or replaced. Basically anything that was worn or broken was replaced as possible. Anything that was original but still in great shape was kept. EXTERIOR Full bare metal preparation on the body, repainted in original color, black, done in 2008. Very little corrosion repair or damage repair was needed as can be seen by the photos. Body was and is in excellent shape. Several coats applied including colorsanded. Clear coat as well. Paint really does look amazing in person. Door seals, trunk, hood, hood latch, window seals, window posts, front and rear windshield seals replaced All beltline trim and clips replaced. Window and brightwork replaced as needed. Emblems replaced, old emblems included. Front & rear windshields replaced with BMW OEM glass. New gaskets. Front center grille replaced, Left headlight grill replaced. New hardware. Front and rear bumpers polished Wiper arms replaced , new blades New hood mechanism wear parts Turn signal and brake light lamps and covers replaced New door brakes, drivers side is missing body attachment. Refinished 14" "bottlecap" BMW alloys with 185R60-14 Pirelli P6 tires. Original steel wheels refinished, powder coated and included. Original OEM spare tire, steel wheel, vintage correct Michelin tire in excellent shape. Several others included in sale. Rear taillights refinished, new lenses and trunk covers. New license lights. All instruments functional Factory BMW AM/FM/ FM stereo radio. Installed updated amplifier and 4 speakers. NO door cuts for the speakers. Original unmodified dash parts included. New headliner installed 2010 Front and rear seats recovered and re-stuffed using OEM BMW parts & materials, rubberized horsehair, etc. These seats are as-factory. New door panels. New OEM door liner installed. Window regulators replaced and serviced. Roll-up & pop-out windows function as new. New OEM style wool carpet installed. Original carpet for ’76 was molded, this carpet is as earlier multi-piece style. New OEM vinyl in trunk New seatbelt and seatbelt controls New seat plastic trim. New door sills, new sunvisors MECHANICALS Battery moved to trunk. New Optima sealed battery. Suspension updated with Bilstein heavy duty units. Steering box replaced when new ones were still available, old unit is included. New front suspension arms & bushings. Absolute Motors rebuilt a 1982 1.8L BMW engine, and 5 speed transmission and installed in 2000. Driveline professionally shortened and rebalanced, updated Fuel injection & intake system and new tank and pressure fuel pumps installed. All original engine, 4sp transmission, and accessories were kept and are included in the sale. Water pump, radiator, engine accessories replaced as needed. Updated 3.90 Limited slip differential installed. Original Differential is included (3.64). New suspension bushings installed, also duplicate suspension parts included with sale. Tii brake parts used to rebuild brakes. New pads, rotors, drums, and shoes (rear). New master cylinder, brakes flushed regularly. New OEM windshield washer & bottle New heater valve & hoses. New heater fan What are the issues?Small tear in drivers seat bottom, (in photo)Door brake for drivers side missing bracket inside cavity (see slide show photos) Odometer very recently stopped working reliably, will be repaired prior to sale.Rear muffler has corrosion as seen in photos, I have all new factory parts. Muffler will be replaced prior to sale.Rear deck has had speakers cut in and added, this was done by previous owner. This is not OEM. Unusual to find a BMW in this condition, has had great care throughout it's ownership. The added F.I and 5sp make for a great driver car as well. It's time to let someone else enjoy this car.
