Vehicle Detail
This auction is for a 2004 Ford F150 XLT long bed pickup. It’s finished in Silver metallic clear coat with the Flint Gray interior. It’s powered by a 231 HP and 293 lb.-ft. of torque Triton 4.6L V8 engine known for it’s high power output, good economy and inherent smoothness. It features two chain driven overhead cams for smooth running, coil on plug ignition for all weather reliability, multiport fuel injection for maximum power and economy and drive by wire throttle for precise engine control. This 4.6L engine is more than capable of performing any job you can give it, from carrying cargo with nearly a full ton of payload capacity to towing a heavy trailer with a 6,500 pound tow rating capacity. While it’s not as powerful as the 5.4L engine, you can get much better fuel economy with 20 to 22 mpg real world highway driving compared to the 5.4L which will barely reach 16-17 mpg. That is one of the best MPG’s of any full size V8 powered pickup and is nearly the same as what a compact V6 Ford Ranger will achieve. And it runs great on regular grade gas. No wonder the F150 is America's best selling pickup. Another thing to consider when shopping for these trucks with around 100,000 miles or more is the 5.4L engine’s two problematic service issues, namely spark plug and cam phasar replacement. If it hasn’t been done recently, it’s not uncommon to be charged $500 to nearly $1000 to change the plugs due to their tendency to break apart during removal which necessitates a specialized extraction process at the minimum, all the way up to having to remove the heads as a worse case scenario. Plus the cam phasar job is in the $1,000 range as well since the front of the engine has to be taken apart. The 4.6L engine has none of these issues. This truck is the first year of Ford’s totally redesigned F150. If you are buying a truck for business use, you know image goes a long way toward projecting success. When you pull up to a customer’s house, the first thing they see is your truck. Imagine how they’ll feel about your company when they see a clean late model vehicle in their driveway as opposed to a beat up older generation truck. Because of the higher mileage, I have priced the truck at what some of the previous design, 2003 and older models sell for. If you are buying a truck for personal use, you’ll get plenty of complements from your friends and family as they are surprised how well such a high mileage vehicle runs and looks. Of course, you don’t HAVE to tell them the mileage or how little you paid for it, letting them think you bought a much more expensive truck. And you’ll get a lot of satisfaction as you personally witness the odometer turn over the 300,000 mile mark in the near future, not to mention all the bragging rights for having the highest mileage vehicle around. This F150 is fully equipped with all the desirable standard safety, comfort and convenience features and optional equipment listed below: 231 horsepower 4.6L Triton V8 engine Automatic overdrive transmission Air conditioning Cruise control with steering wheel mounted switches Tilt steering wheel Color keyed steering wheel AM/FM CD stereo 40/20/40 front seats with reclining seatbacks and lumbar adjustment Integrated seat mounted seatbelts Fold-down center armrest with two cup holders and storage compartment Dash mounted pull-out dual cup holders and coin tray Front doors with storage pockets and cup holders Wide opening rear doors with storage pockets 17 inch aluminum wheels 255/65R17 tires Chrome front and rear bumpers Body color grille surround Polished stainless steel exhaust tip Gauge package including tachometer, oil pressure, water temperature and volts gauges plus message displays Outside temperature and compass display Dual rear coat hooks Driver and passenger side grab bars for easy entry Sliding rear window Tinted glass with privacy glass on rear window Clear lens halogen projector beam style headlights Autolamp system Fog lights Cargo light Battery saver to de-power any electrical items left on over 10-20 minutes Intermittent wipers Visor vanity mirror Two dash mounted 12 volt power outlets F150 logo door opening trim plates Factory tow package with 4/7 pole electrical connectors FORD logo accessory receiver cap Full size spare tire Locking spare tire access 27 gallon fuel tank Sprayed-on bedliner Easy-Off tailgate with lock SecuriLock anti-theft security system with engine immobilization Anti-lock brakes with 4 wheel discs And many more items too numerous to mention. There are over 100 photos ahead and if you don’t have a high speed internet connection and get an “X” where a picture should be you may need to hit the Refresh button a few times. If that still doesn’t work, CLICK HERE to see the pictures individually. REAR DOORS FOR EASY ACCESS TO BEHIND THE SEATS: PLENTY OF STORAGE SPACE BEHIND THE SEATS: JACK AND ALL THE TOOLS: FULL SIZE SPARE TIRE: TRANSMISSION COOLER: ENGINE SUPER CLEAN INTERNALLY: POWER STEERING COOLER: The body is in overall very good condition with just the usual minor dings, scuffs and scratches you expect on an 8 year old truck. The only issues to note are that the left side of the front bumper has been bent up slightly and that above the left rear wheel opening there are some light dents as if it was scraped against a lightpole. Neither of these cosmetic blemishes stand out enough to have warranted fixing them. The paint is in beautiful condition and this shade of silver just about glows in the sunlight. It has just been cleaned with Meguiar’s Smooth Surface Clay System, polished with Meguiar’s Mirror Glaze cleaner polish and topped off with Meguiar’s Ultimate Synthetic wax for a high gloss shine. The interior is in nice condition as well with excellent carpet, dash, door panels and headliner. Only the seat fabric shows some dirt which is common to all these F150’s that use this open weave material, but this example is no worse than others with one third the miles. The drivers seat cushion had a small tear that was hand sewn together. The truck doesn‘t appear to have been smoked in. In fact, it’s not even equipped with a lighter. The engine compartment has been fully detailed and is clean enough to eat off of. Mechanically it runs and drives great as well. Internally the engine is super clean and shows absolutely no sludge and only a light varnish you would find on a 30,000 mile motor. The oil in this truck must have been changed religiously. There is no reason to doubt that it will make it to half a million miles and beyond. The engine pulls strong and feels smooth both at idle, while accelerating and throughout the cruising range and the transmission shifts like it’s supposed to. The steering wheel is on dead center going down the road with no shakes or vibrations at speed, the brakes are firm with no pedal pulsations or pulling to one side when stopping, and the suspension is tight. The A/C blows ice cold. It has a pair of Yokohama Geolandar tires up front with more than half their tread left and a pair of Kelly Springfield Safari tires at the rear with about half the tread remaining. These are all-season M+S tires that combine extended wear with enhanced traction and handling, a smooth comfortable ride and long tread life. Both brands have a super long treadwear rating of 500 so you should easily go another 30,000 miles before shopping for tires. The truck has a good Hankook full size spare tire which also has at least half it’s tread left. The truck has been fully checked out and serviced with nearly $4,000 worth of new or recent parts, maintenance and repairs with original Ford, Motorcraft or other name brand parts so that only your enjoyment rather than your immediate attention will be required on delivery. Some of the items checked or serviced include: New Mobil 1 oil change New Motorcraft oil filter New Motorcraft air filter New Motorcraft fuel filter New throttle body cleaning New MAF sensor cleaning New Motorcraft platinum spark plugs Motorcraft battery with 850 CCA and 100 month warranty Recent alternator New Motorcraft serpentine belt New Cloyes timing chain kit including: Right timing chain Left timing chain Right tensioner Left tensioner Right upper and lower guides Left upper and lower guides Crankshaft sprocket New Motorcraft upper radiator hose New Motorcraft lower radiator hose New Stant thermostat and seal New Motorcraft Premium Gold coolant flush and change with distilled water New Motorcraft Mercon V transmission fluid flush and change New Motorcraft transmission filter New Motorcraft PTFE driveshaft slip yoke lubrication New Timkin rear wheel bearings New Motorcraft rear wheel bearing seals New Mobil 1 rear axle fluid change with Permatex Gear Oil RTV cover gasket New Motorcraft XL3 rear axle fluid additive Recent front brake pads Recent front brake rotors Recent rear brake pads Recent rear brake rotors Recent or excellent parking brake shoes New NAPA parking brake hardware New NAPA left rear parking brake cable New Valvoline Synthetic Dot 4 brake fluid flush and change New FORD logo accessory receiver cap New polished stainless steel exhaust tip New trailer hitch 7 pole electrical receptacle Photos of some of the parts replaced and service done: Oil change: Oil filter: Air filter: Fuel filter: Throttle body cleaning: MAF sensor cleaning: Spark plugs with the proper amount of anti-seize on the threads: Battery: Alternator: Serpentine belt: Timing chain kit right (date on newspaper is July 11, 2012): Timing chain kit left: Upper radiator hose: Lower radiator hose: Thermostat and seal: Coolant flush and change: Transmission fluid flush and change: Transmission filter: Transmission super clean internally: Driveshaft slip yoke: Rear wheel bearings: Rear wheel bearing oil seals: Rear axle fluid change: Front brake pads: Front brake rotors: Front brake rotor thickness; 30mm is new: Rear brake pads: Rear brake rotors: Rear brake rotor thickness; 20mm is new: Parking brake shoes: Parking brake shoe hardware kit: Left rear parking brake cable: Brake fluid flush and change: Brake fluid so clean you can barely tell the level: 2004 is the first year of the new bodystyle for the F150 and if you’ve been looking for a new style F150, the 2004 model is the best value to buy since it’s nearly identical to the 2008’s, but being eight model years old, the majority of the depreciation has been absorbed by the previous owner, yet the truck still looks nice and runs great. Since the ’04 F150 was the first year of the new bodystyle, it’s the oldest, and thus, the least expensive model you can buy. What that means is you can own a truck with the looks, style and prestige of a late model F150 for a fraction of the cost. In fact, because of the mileage, this F150 may be the cheapest one you will find until a few years of depreciation have reduced the prices of other F150’s to the level of this one. It could be a while before that happens, so if you’ve always wanted a new style F150 but thought you didn’t quite have enough funds to purchase one, this truck may just have your name on it. In other words, it’s going to take a few years before the other ’04 to ‘08 F150s that are advertised now for $8,000 to $10,000 depreciate down to the price of this F150. So why wait that long? In a year or two their prices will be the same as this one is right now anyway, so you might as well own and enjoy it now! In fact, this new style F150 is priced below many of the older previous generation trucks. The Kelly Blue Book value for the truck even with the high miles is nearly $6,000. CLICK HERE to see the Blue Book. I have the Buy It Now Price at almost $1,000 below that. This is a one owner southern truck from Maryland. Yes, one person liked it so much that he kept it for so many miles. CLICK HERE to see the title. (Lien release comes with it.) And of course it comes with a clean Carfax. CLICK HERE to see the Carfax. If you are serious about buying a new bodystyle F150, this is about as low as they go because of the high mileage. Remember, you can get a great deal on Ebay with prices sometimes way below retail, but no bidder is going to “steal” a vehicle and no seller is going to give one away either. Also when comparing prices, remember the things that you won’t have to spend money on. Nearly no expense was spared to make this vehicle reliable and drive like one with less than a third it’s mileage. With this truck you won’t have to spend over $1,000 on timing chains, you won’t have to spend $600 for a new set of tires, you won’t have to spend $400 on a complete front brake service, you won’t have to spend $400 on a complete rear brake service, you won’t have to spend $300 on a coolant and transmission service, you won’t have to spend $300 on a tune-up and filters service and you won’t have to spend $300 on any upcoming scheduled maintenance. So other than routine oil and filter changes, there’s not much you should have to do for the next 100,000 miles. With many of the other listings on Ebay, you’re lucky if they even check the oil before delivery. If you are looking for a nice F150 in great condition at a low price, then this truck is hard to beat. Also remember that we don’t charge dealer processing fees or document fees that many other listings have for $200 or more and bury in their fine print. And don’t be fooled by some other auctions that are advertised as NO RESERVE and start at $100 or some other low price. Since no dealer is going to risk loosing thousands of dollars if their auction doesn’t bring enough money, you can be pretty sure he has some “people” bidding on it for him. Especially those auctions that are private listings where it says “User ID kept private.” Also, because my reserve is close to the Buy It Now price, don’t think that you will get a much better deal if you just keep bidding it up instead of using B.I.N., especially if you need it delivered. TERMS OF THE AUCTION ARE AS FOLLOWS: Since this truck may be advertised locally, auction can be canceled at any time (unless auction ended early with BUY IT NOW) due to prior sale without liability to any bidder. A down payment of $500 (plus any additional delivery charge) is required within 3 days of the close of the auction, balance due in cash on delivery or certified funds on delivery if I deliver it or you pick it up, or before it’s dropped off at the transporter if a shipping company is transporting it, but no later than 7 days after the close of the auction without prior agreement. I accept bank or certified checks, money orders, credit cards through PayPal (accepted for down payment only). If paying balance with funds other than cash, buyer to fax copy of monetary instrument no less than 24 hours before picking up vehicle. The truck is sold as is. Buyer is welcome to inspect truck BEFORE the end of the auction or to have someone check it out on your behalf provided you authorize whoever is checking the truck to provide me with a copy of the results. I have tried to accurately describe this truck, both mechanically and cosmetically but you can expect a certain amount of minor flaws on ANY used truck including squeaks, rattles, drips, nicks, chips, scratches, blemishes and any other marks that are consistent with the age and mileage of the vehicle. There is no possible way to include all minute details and imperfections, however, I believe my listing accurately depicts this vehicle and if there are any issues they are noted in the description. Also remember that a vehicle is made up of thousands of mechanical parts and components and in an older or higher mileage used vehicle a part that is working fine now may go bad the next day, in a week, or a month from now. It’s nearly impossible to tell when a particular part or component will fail as most don’t exhibit prior symptoms, however, proper preventative maintenance as this truck has received, can prevent most problems or breakdowns from happening. In fairness to all bidders the reserve price will not be disclosed so please don’t even ask. Buyer responsible for transportation and truck must be paid for in full before it can be released. May deliver. Email or call for delivery quote or for any other questions. atikovi@email.com Maryland and District of Columbia dealer. Phone 202-246-5201. Please do not bid if you don’t intend to buy. FREE DELIVERY TERMS: Free delivery within 500 miles of the Washington DC area if bidder purchases vehicle with Buy It Now. (35 cents per mile for additional miles as shown in MapQuest.com from zip code 20001 to your address.) That is still the same rate as when I started on Ebay over 10 years ago even with more than double the gas prices. Remember, the Buy It Now option disappears once the reserve price is met. The Buy It Now price is $4,995.
